Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-18

John 11:25 (NKJV) 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

This is so simply beautiful. Believe in Jesus Christ, and though we may die someday, we shall live! This means that when we pass away, our natural, fleshly body stops living. But we, our soul, remains alive!

Because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we became the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for us and made things right between us and the Father. He made the way.

As we receive Him and believe in Him sincerely and wholeheartedly, surrendering our lives to Him, we shall continue to live even after our body is gone.

His GRACE is amazing!

Romans 6:14 (NKJV) 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-9-18

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Many of us struggle with who we are, who God made us to be. We wrestle with trying to be ourselves. And, instead, we try to follow in the footsteps of someone else, emulating someone we know or someone we look up to.

It’s not wrong to see good qualities in others and then work toward having those qualities in ourselves. But way too often we take it beyond that and we try to be that person. We try to walk in their shoes, live their life and almost take on their identity.

But God has created us to be unique. He has placed specific qualities in us that are there for a reason. He has plans that He wants to carry out in each and every one of us. So, the last thing He wants for us is to see us get caught up in trying to become someone else.

You have skills, talents and abilities that were placed in you by your Creator. He has made you who you are. Yes, you may have some faults and shortcomings. We all do. But they are nothing that He can’t help us overcome and correct.

We just have to let Him.

And the way to do that is to submit and surrender to Him. We need to start letting Him guide our steps, showing us what to do and when to do it, instead of us always telling Him what we want to do and how we want to do it.

Father, please forgive me for trying to be someone I am not. Please help me to learn exactly who you created me to be. Help me to stop looking at everyone around me and trying to live their life.

Help me, God, to see myself as someone with a hope and a future, not as someone who has run out of chances. I trust you to do a good work in me and fix the broken things in me. I give you permission to show me how to live my life with my eyes on you, not on others.

Thank you for hearing my prayer. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-18

Matthew 18:4 (NKJV) 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

One of the hardest things to do in life is to remain humble. It’s a constant battle to keep pride from growing in us.

Pride is the very thing that will cause us to fall and keep us from being great in the kingdom of heaven.

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride is the opposite of being humble, and when we’re prideful it shows. We don’t have to dig too deep to find it. It is usually seen right on the surface of man.

A prideful person usually exposes themselves quickly through their actions and their words. They tend to be rude, arrogant and full of themselves. If a humble person listens to the talk of a haughty person they will quickly find themselves getting irritated.

A prideful person will not listen or let anyone else have the floor to speak. They will not follow anyone or their instructions. They want nothing else, but to LEAD. Prideful people like to have complete control over every situation.

How do we remain humble as the child that Jesus referred to, and become great in God’s kingdom?

We stop doing whatever we feel like doing and we listen to God’s instruction. We follow His statutes and His plan for our life.

Jesus hits pride hard in this one little verse.

Matthew 16:24(NKJV) 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

It’s the denying of ourselves and the following of His lead that destroys the pride that tries to take root in all of us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-6-18

Philippians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 Do all things without complaining and disputing

Ouch. This one can speak volumes to most of us.

Complaining can become a very bad habit for us if we’re not careful. Some of us complain purposely. Others might complain without even realizing that they’ve fallen into it.

Complaining is something that shows us our heart. What do we mean by that? Let’s take a look.

If we complain habitually, it’s usually because we are ungrateful for what we have. Sometimes we might complain because we’re envious or jealous of others. We might think that others have it better than we do. And doing this can cause us to be in a constant state of grumbling.

God wants us to learn to be content. This means that we need to stop longing for the things that others have.

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

Always wanting what others have is called coveting. God has warned us against coveting what others have. And there’s a good reason for that. Covetousness is destructive to our thinking.

It’s important that we learn to be thankful and appreciative for everything God blesses us with. To do this, we need to take the time to look at what we have, instead of worrying about what we don’t have.

This comes when we draw near to God and learn to love Him more deeply.

On a personal note, I used to tend to grumble about many things. Because my personality tended to be critical of things that I saw, it led to always looking at the bad side of things.

God has now taught me to appreciate what I have. He has taught me to be thankful and content, whether we are in a season of feast or a season of famine. It took some work, but because I allowed God to help me and show me where I needed to fix some things, He was able to deliver me from it! Amen

So, please take this to heart today. Listen to the soft, gentle voice of God. And let Him help us to recognize our complaining and replace it with testimonies of His goodness.

Psalm 119:36 (NKJV) 36 Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-5-18

Genesis 6:18 (NKJV) 18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.

God was talking to Noah in this verse. He was letting him know specifically who would be with him on the ark.

Having the right people around us when we are doing what God has called us to do, a faith project, is extremely important.

What is a faith project? It is something we know God is asking us to do.

For instance, God asked Noah to build an ark. He gave him specific details and He also told Him the people to have around him, to help and encourage him. Noah had his family. Those were the people that God wanted around Noah.

Some may not think this is important because all throughout their life they have always made their own choices as to who they are involved with. But when it comes to taking the steps that God has ordered us to take, it is crucial to pay attention to even those that He wants around us.

God knows the heart, intentions and motives of man better than we do. He knows who we need to have around us during these times. He knows who will stand with us until the project is finished. Who will not pull on us and distract us. Who will not try to take over half way through the project. He knows whether someone is sincere or if they are just in it for themselves.

Trusting Him, even with the people, friends, family, pastors, etc., that we need around us during these seasons in our life is what will help us get our God project done.

The enemy loves to bring in distractions, hindrances and problems to delay us or get us off track. He likes to get us caught up in things that can can set us back and mess up our timing. God’s timing is everything!

Some of us are still trying to work the project when, in reality, we missed the season for it.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

We need God’s help to keep us on track, focused and moving in the right season.

He will give us discernment in having the right people to stand with us, support and help us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-18

Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Delight yourself in the Lord. Commit your way to the Lord. Notice a common theme in those two phrases?

We all want God to give us the desires of our heart. Who wouldn’t? We’d be crazy not to want that!

But let’s take a look at what it takes for that to happen in our lives.

First, we have to “delight ourselves in the Lord”. This is a big deal, especially since it’s one of the keys to having God give us the desires of our heart.

To delight ourselves in the Lord means that we put Him first. We make His priorities ours. We make His thoughts our thoughts. We make His ways our ways. And so on.

It means that we give ourselves to Him wholeheartedly. 100%. We make every effort to please Him and grow our relationship with Him.

The beginning of verse 5 sums it up nicely: “Commit your way to the Lord”.

To commit means to give in trust, or to give charge over.

We trust God with our life and give Him charge over it. Pretty serious stuff, isn’t it?

So, with that in mind, it sheds new light on what it takes for God to give us the desires of our heart.

Is this meant to discourage us? Not at all. Quite opposite, actually.

Now that the mystery has been removed, we should have less doubts about this and what it takes for it to happen in our own lives. This should encourage us to move forward with God in every area of our lives.

Go ahead. Draw near to God. Press in to Him and learn of Him. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-3-18

Romans 8:25 (NKJV) 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

Start this new year off by asking God for vision, to see the things that need to be changed in our lives, our homes, our finances, our work, or our ministry.

Lay it all out before Him, and then wait on Him.

God knows the things that need to be fixed, and He knows how to fix them. He knows what it will take and what will turn it around and make it work.

Write down the things He puts on our hearts and ask Him how to do it. Ask Him for the plan and the wisdom to do it. Let Him direct our steps.

God will place His vision within us and yes, it is fun and very exciting at times.

But we can’t think that once we have the vision that we can just pick up the ball and run with it on our own. That’s not how it works, and people that do this end up in a mess or in great failure.

Let Him work out the details and give us His strategy and timing. It may not come all at once, but in little pieces. Wait for it, moving one step at a time, and enjoy every moment of it.

God is precious, and the things He does for His children, He takes to heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-18

Psalm 109:26 (NKJV) 26 Help me, O Lord my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy…

Temptation comes in many different ways and sometimes dealing with it can be very difficult.

Let us be very real with you today. All of us struggle with different types of temptation. Being a believer doesn’t mean that we are exempt from it.

Some may seem like they are little, minuscule or tiny compared to other temptations. It doesn’t matter. We are still tempted and we need to know that if we can’t beat it, it will beat us.

How do we beat it?

We have to acknowledge that we are being tempted and admit that we have trouble with whatever it is that is tempting us.

The next step is to know that if something keeps tempting us, and we can’t overcome it, then we need to recognize that a part of us likes whatever it is, even though we know it’s wrong or not good for us. We have to fix that part of us.

How?

We have to starve or deprive ourselves of it. Whatever it may be, we cannot have anything to do with it or be around those people, places or things that are associated with it, at least until we are strong enough to stand against it. We have to make a big bold statement and stick to it!

When we do decide “No More”, we’d better be ready for the fight of our life, because things that we are addicted to don’t just go away. We opened a door to them and gave it a home in us. For that reason, we can’t expect it to simply go away now.

We need to throw out what we allowed in and then lock up that door tight.

When it comes to cleaning out or getting rid of addictions there is a spiritual deliverance that needs to take place in order for us to get completely free.

It doesn’t mean we have to thrash around on the floor and foam at the mouth. That’s not what we are saying, although sometimes that may happen. Deliverance is personal and different for each person. It’s between us and God.

When we are serious about getting free from addictions, God is faithful to deliver us.

Dear God in Heaven,

Today I am struggling with the temptation of ………….. Please help me to get free from this. I don’t want it anymore. I command it to go, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! I know that the name and the blood of Jesus are more powerful than anything that tempts me.

I ask You to help me be bold and say NO when I am tempted. Please give me the wisdom to clean up the atmosphere around me, that I may remain free from this for the rest of my days.

Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-1-18

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Be still and know.

What do these words mean, and how do we apply them to our lives in a practical way that will help us grow as a believer?

Well, being still doesn’t necessarily mean sitting and doing nothing. Many of us make that mistake. And doing so can cause our situation or our trial to be prolonged.

Sitting still in this verse means that we do as God has shown us or instructed us to do. But we do it without fear. And we do it knowing that God is on our side and he has secured us in our position with Him.

When we become afraid, we tend to make rash decisions and we lose the ability to trust God, because we begin to doubt Him.

Sitting still means not doubting Him, not becoming frantic and not becoming fearful as we do the things He has told us to do.

And if we haven’t heard Him tell us what to do, then we do only the things we know He has previously instructed us to do. God is faithful to lead us. We just need to be sure to follow Him.

Be still and know. Trust Him.
