Bible Verse of The Day – 10-9-17

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Wisdom. It’s something that God considers very important. It is talked about from the beginning of His word to the end of it.

In fact, if you search the Bible, Wisdom is mentioned no less than 230 times. So, let’s say that it’s very safe to assume that God wants us to have wisdom.

Now, wisdom is something that many people think of only when it comes to growing older. Life’s experiences can teach us a lot. And as we walk through the things that get thrown at us, we can accumulate wisdom and understanding in a lot of areas.

And while this is a great way to learn and accumulate wisdom, there is a better way. Ask God for it!

God has told us that if we lack wisdom, we should ask Him for it, and He will give it liberally, without reproach. He will give it to all who ask Him.

What are the benefits of having wisdom? Well, let’s just say that they are many!

Too many, in fact, to list here. So, let’s talk more about wisdom tomorrow.

Remember, if any of us lacks wisdom, we just need to ask God, who gives it liberally to all who ask.

Until tomorrow, be blessed in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-17

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

So, what exactly happens when we seek first the kingdom of God? We get fed, we get clothed, we get taken care of. Wow, how rewarding!

Matthew 6:31-32 (NKJV) 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

God will take care of these things. Is that the reason why we should seek God and His righteousness? No! We shouldn’t have a motive other than wanting to do the right thing and be closer to Him. But it sure is nice to know that by doing so all these things will be added to us.

It is a gift. It is a privilege. It is an honor and a blessing, all wrapped together in seeking God.

Now, don’t make the mistake of thinking that following God means that He just makes everything we need fall into our laps from unknown sources. Yes, sometimes that can happen. But, most times He will require steps and action on our part. In turn, He provides for us in ways that are just as rewarding, and sometimes even miraculous.

Jesus gave His precious life so that we can have access to our Father. Let’s go after Him with everything in us. Seek first the kingdom!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-6-17

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Do you want peace of mind?

Does your mind constantly race with thoughts of “what if”? Do you sit and wonder how the situation you’re facing right now will work out?

Do you spend hours awake at night because you don’t know what to do about a problem you have or a circumstance you find yourself in?

Way too many people overlook the fact that God doesn’t just work on us to fix sin problems. He is also in the business of fixing the problems we have with insecurity, fear, apprehension, doubt and so many other mind-related problems.

God wants to help heal our minds and put them at ease, once and for all. He wants to teach us how to overcome our thoughts and our fears, not live our lives based on them.

Well, most of us love that idea, but we have no clue how to make it happen. We don’t know how to shut our minds down and stop them from racing all hours of the day and night.

We try so many different things to fix this problem. Some people try psycho-therapy. Others try medication. Others might even try drinking alcohol to “relax” them. But, we still find ourselves wrestling with our thoughts, and no peace comes.

The problem lies in the fact that we don’t recognize God’s sovereignty. We don’t understand that He wants to fix our lack of peace of mind by transforming our minds.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

All of the things mentioned above that people try to use to soothe their minds are the ways of the world. Some of them have some merit. But they will never bring true peace or contentment.

God wants to be the One to transform our minds; change the way we think. And this happens when we begin to trust Him with everything about our lives, not just a few select things that “seem spiritual”.

This is a process. It doesn’t happen overnight. It comes one little step at a time. It’s like a baby learning to walk. First, they learn to pull themselves up and stand while holding onto something. And then they take a step or two while holding onto something.

And then one day they take their first step without holding onto anything. And before you know it, they’re walking all over the house!

They will be a bit wobbly at first. And they will undoubtedly fall many times. But they eventually get the hang of it. And before you know it, they’re running!

Our minds are the same way. We have to learn how to surrender them to God, one little piece at a time. One step, then another, and then another. And before we know it, they finally “get it”. And then there’s no turning back.

Yes, we will fall down at first. Sometimes we will fall down a lot. But, with time and persistent effort, we will learn how to completely surrender our minds to God and let Him transform them.

And as we do this, we will find a new peace that we have never known before. And that peace will surpass all human, logical understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-5-17

1 Kings 3:5 (NKJV) 5 At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”

If God appeared to us today and said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”, what would be our answer? What would we want?

Some of us may have a list of things we need more than anything right now. But would that be what God wants to hear?

When God approached Solomon in a dream, Solomon, being a king, asked for one thing. He asked God for an understanding heart to help him to discern.

He knew he did not have the experience to discern justice correctly for the people. He wanted to be pleasing to God and do right by Him. He wanted to help the people and care for them correctly, fairly and justly.

Who was Solomon thinking of when he asked for understanding? Not himself. He could have asked for anything, but he chose understanding.

His answer to God showed his heart condition, and it was exactly what helped him not only get understanding, but everything else that he could have ever needed and wanted.

1 King 3:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.

What would we ask God for today? Would we give Him the answer He is looking for? The answer that would please Him?

Having wisdom and getting understanding is more precious than material possessions. It is important. It is the very thing that helps us every day in discerning our steps. It helps us to make clear decisions and to take the right actions in any given situation.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

What would we ask for?

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-4-17

Ecclesiastes 1:14 (NKJV) 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Life can seem as though it has no meaning sometimes. We can go from day to day, wondering why we’re here, why we’re alive, and whether our life has any real value.

Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. He was also the richest man who ever lived. He had everything that any man (or woman) would ever want or need.

And yet, after living and experiencing all that he walked through, he concluded that life is only vanity and grasping for the wind.

We might look at Solomon’s life and wonder why he would say that. After all, he had everything. He had wealth, wisdom, pleasures and so much more. Why, after being blessed so abundantly, would he write such things?

The answer is simple. He saw the frivolity in those things. He saw how people spent their lives chasing after wealth, pleasure and other tangible things. And he understood that those things are worth nothing when compared to living a life that pleases God.

Solomon had more wives and concubines that possibly any other man that lived. He didn’t lack attention or physical pleasure.

He had more wealth than any other man has ever been able to accumulate. He never lacked any kind of possessions.

And he had a kingdom of people at his service. He was well taken care of.

So, there is a valuable lesson for all of us in his words.

If someone who had as much as Solomon did would speak such words about life being vanity and grasping for the wind, while being so abundantly blessed with worldly materials and comforts, it would benefit each and every one of us to pay close attention and make sure that our time and efforts are put into pursuing God, and not the things of this world.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-17

Exodus 33:14 (NKJV) 14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

A person that has to have control over everything will never find rest.

Someone with this mindset will think that they cannot live without knowing from one minute to the next that they have it all under control. If they could do everything in this world themselves, they would. And they would love it!

They don’t want to have to rely on anyone but themselves to get things done. And honestly, they really think they can handle it all on their own. They don’t need anyone; no help, no advice, no suggestions, because they really, truly believe they’ve got it all under control.

They don’t like when change comes. They work hard at trying to keep things going the same way all the time, correctly and smoothly, with NO disturbances or blemishes, as they might call them.

When something goes wrong, fear instantly grips them and they freeze. Their whole being goes blank and every insecure feeling hits them all at once. Once they realize they’ve lost control, having no idea how to handle this situation, they begin to lash out in anger and frustration.

They are quick to snap at others, saying things that are degrading and hurtful to anyone around them, and blaming them for everything that has happened. They have no remorse about the things they are saying. They are out of control, and can’t see that their troubles are because of the position they put themselves in, always trying to do it all on their own.

Fear is at the root of a controlling person’s problems. We are literally afraid of the unknown, that is, not knowing if we can fix a problem or not. We are afraid of what can go wrong. We try our hardest to control it to go exactly the way we think it should, even if it means we do everything ourselves, even to the point that we are run down, exhausted, and sick.

Rebuke fear today in Jesus’ Name. It’s alright if we don’t know what to do sometimes. It’s OK to have people help, even if they don’t do it the way we think it has to be done.

It’s time to let God lead. We are not in control, no matter how much we want to believe we are. In a matter of seconds everything can change for us. There is only ONE who has everything in control. Rest in Him today.

Dear God in Heaven,

Precious are You to forgive me for my sin. Today I come to You and ask for Your forgiveness for trying to have control over everything to the point where I have pushed people away, hurt people, and have said and done mean things to those that have tried to help me. Please forgive me, in Jesus’ name I ask.

I want this rest that You offer to me. I give up on trying to do everything myself and I ask that You bring in the right people around me to help. I lay down the stress that it has caused me, and I pick up the peace that comes with resting in You.

Thank you, Lord. I give You all the praise for teaching me how to live, and to live life more abundantly each day. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-2-17

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

What makes our light shine before men? When we do good works.

That’s right, when we step out and do something good for someone. It doesn’t have to be something big, something expensive, something great. Just something good, kind, and done with the right intentions.

What are right intentions? Doing something good and not looking for or expecting anything at all in return.

It can be a very small deed, but with the right intentions it will cause it to stand out and shine big.

The more good things we do with the right intentions, the more our light will shine, and the more God will be glorified in it. Amen.

As we walk out our door today, listen, watch and pray for an opportunity to do a good work, that the light in us will be able to shine brightly, giving God all the Glory!

Bible Verse of The Day – What is Presumption? (Part 2) – 10-1-17

Greetings in the name of our beautiful Savior!

Last week we published a video that was part 1 of a 2-part series; What is Presumption?

Today, part 2 is live and ready for you to watch!

Please click here to watch it now.

How do we know if we’re walking in presumption? And what happens if we find that we are?

Please click here to watch it now.

Does God fix the mess we make when we think we’re walking by faith, but it turns out that it’s not really faith? That’s a really good question. And we answer that question in this video.

Please click here to watch it now.

We pray that God will speak to everyone who watches this, so we will all learn to live and walk by faith in Him.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
