Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-17

Matthew 9:29-30 (NKJV) 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened…

Our faith is very important in every aspect of our lives.

Our faith is the foundation upon which our walk with God is built. If our faith is weak, so will our walk with God be weak.

Faith affects our relationship with God on many levels.

The strength of our faith, or the lack of strength, will determine whether we believe Him or doubt Him.

It will determine whether we follow Him with our whole heart or with just a tiny piece of it.

It will determine whether we pray with power or pray weakly and with few results.

Our faith will determine how we approach each day. It will affect how we carry ourselves. And it will change our outlook on everything.

Jesus specifically told the blind men “According to your faith let it be to you”. They confessed their faith in Him to heal them. And it was done.

Everything we do in our lives will be affected by our faith. So how do we have strong faith?

We stop trying to build our faith for the sake of having faith. And we start building our faith and trust in God. God is the supplier of our faith. He gave each and every one of us a “measure of faith”. Whether that measure grows or not is up to us.

We put God first in everything. Our attitude. Our work. Our relationships. Our giving. Our friendships, and much more.

And we spend time with Him. We read His word. We talk with Him. We get to know Him in a personal way. And as we do this, our relationship with Him gets stronger and stronger.

And that strong relationship translates into stronger faith.

Yes, it takes work on our part. Strong faith doesn’t come by way of someone laying hands on us and speaking it over us. It doesn’t come simply by us asking for it. And it doesn’t come by reading books about it.

But God rewards those who diligently seek Him. So, as we seek Him with purpose and in sincerity, He will reward us with stronger faith and a changed heart.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Seek Him. Put Him first. And build a strong walk with Him. And watch your faith blossom and grow in strength.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-17

Matthew 13:8 (NKJV) 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Today we’ll look at the last of the different types of seeds that Jesus taught about in the parable of the sower and the seeds.

This last bunch of seeds fell on good ground.

This means that when they heard the word of God, they received it and held it close to their hearts. They treasured it and did whatever it took to protect it, nurture it and make it grow.

And, in turn, those seeds went on to bear much fruit. Some a hundredfold, some sixty and some thirty.

Think about that. A hundredfold return on one seed. Or even sixty or thirtyfold. Those are extremely high returns!

These hearts took the word of God seriously and not only nurtured it in their own lives, but also helped to share it with others.

They saw it as being so important that they diligently worked to make it multiply, in their own lives and in the lives of those around them.

Luke 8:15 (NKJV) 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

But did you notice that last word or two? With patience.

They took their time. They gave it the proper time and attention needed to bring it to fruition. And, in return, they didn’t just get a return, they saw a huge harvest.

Patience is critical. We need to not be in such a hurry all the time. Remember that those who were in a hurry lost their faith because the cares of the world and the pursuit of riches choked it out and caused it to die.

Treasure God’s word. Cherish it. Protect it and hold it close to your heart.

And you will reap a harvest, in your own life, and for the kingdom of God, a hundredfold, sixtyfold or thirtyfold.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-17

Matthew 13:7 (NKJV) 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

As the sower continued to sow his seeds, there were some that fell on thorny ground.

The thorns in this verse represent the cares of this world, and the worldly riches that so many of us spend our lives seeking desperately after.

Sadly, there are very many people who fall into this category. The world will offer us so much to hold our time and attention.

Careers, hobbies, personal vanity, material possessions, bigger homes, luxurious cars and a huge list of other things.

We can dawdle away our lives in search of these things, and if we’re not careful, our love for God gets pushed to the back burner. And before we know it, that love starts to falter and grow weaker.

Soon, if we’re not careful, that flame will smolder and go out. And we will have traded our destiny for wealth, material things and the attention of others.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to guard our hearts and make God’s treasures our own.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-17

Matthew 13:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

As the sower continued to sow his seeds, some of them fell on stony ground.

Stony ground has very little dirt. There is some, but not enough to support healthy growth or longevity.

Seeds sown on stony ground will typically spring up quickly, since they don’t get buried very deep in the dirt. But as the sun hits them, they also dry up and whither very quickly. And as quickly as they sprang to life, they die.

They live a very short life and bear no fruit.

Such is the word of God when it is heard and received by some. They immediately embrace it, and are full of joy! But they have no root and it only lasts for a while.

When they face trials and persecution because of the word, they immediately stumble.

It’s so important that we take His word seriously. We need to absorb it and get it embedded deeply within us. And as we do this, it is protected and will sustain us through everything we face in life.

We will continue tomorrow. As always, embrace His word and hold it deep in your hearts. His word is life!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-17

Matthew 13:1-3 (NKJV) 1 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow.

The parable of the sower and the seeds has a lot of valuable lessons for each of us.

During the next few days we will cover each of the various scenarios that Jesus talked about regarding where the seeds fell and whether they grew or not.

So, let’s start off with Matthew 13:4.

Matthew 13:4 (NKJV) 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.

Jesus went on to explain that the seeds being spread by the sower represent the word of God being shared with those who don’t know Him.

As His message of love and hope is shared, the “seeds” fall on various kinds of ground.

In verse 4, the seeds fell by the wayside. And they never stood a chance to grow at all because they were immediately devoured by birds.

The seeds, in this case, represent the Word that is shared in a way that can’t be understood by the ones hearing it. And because it can’t be understood, it bears no fruit at all.

The enemy immediately comes and steals it before it can take root and grow in their hearts.

It’s important that, as we share God’s word with others who don’t know Him, we listen to and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. He will guide us as to what to say and how to say it.

And as we heed His instructions, He will give us the right words to speak at the right time. And those words will be like seeds sown in fertile ground, yielding a harvest for the kingdom of God.

More on this tomorrow!

Bible Verse of The Day – Learning to Wait on God – 10-15-17

Greetings to you in the beautiful name of Jesus!

Wait.

That’s a word that none of us likes to hear. But it’s a very important word in our walk with God. And it’s also the topic of our latest video.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Learning to wait on God and move in His timing is probably one of the hardest parts of following Him. But as we learn to wait, we begin to understand why He asks us to do so.

Please click here to watch the video now.

In today’s video, we break things down and shed some light on why it’s so critically important for us to learn this, and how it will help us live our lives fulfilled and satisfied as we walk out the things He sets before us.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We love you all dearly.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-17

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

What is the peace of God?

Sometimes we can get confused about what God’s peace really is. Yet, the peace of God is very important to our lives as His followers.

God’s peace surpasses all understanding. That means that we can have peace and not even understand why.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

It also means that we can have His peace even though we might be in a situation that would normally cause us to be freaking out or fretting every second of the day.

The world can seem like it’s falling apart, yet we have a peace that can’t be explained.

God’s peace guards our heart and mind. It protects us from becoming completely frazzled by the things we face.

But let’s be very clear. God’s peace is not the same as having peace of mind. God can give us peace of mind, but His peace goes beyond peace of mind.

Peace of mind means that our mind has enough understanding to cause us to be at ease. God’s peace is quite the opposite!

Our human understanding can’t comprehend God’s peace. It doesn’t make sense to our minds. It isn’t logical.

But it’s 100% real!

So, how do we have God’s peace?

We draw near to Him. We press in and we learn of Him. We communicate with Him. We study His word.

We get so close to Him that we can hear His heartbeat. Just as the disciple who laid his head on the chest of Jesus, we need to be that close to God.

So, push aside the cares of this world and press toward Him. Do whatever it takes to reach Him. Make whatever effort it takes to push through the crowd, block out the noise and escape the busyness. And touch the hem of His garment.

It will be worth the effort when we feel His peace surround us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-13-17

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride will be the downfall of even the most well-intentioned people, including God’s people.

Sadly, many church leaders become victims of pride. God wants to use some of these men and women to do mighty works. But as they begin to see God’s hand moving in their lives, pride sets in and they end up straying from the path that God had set before them.

It’s important that we remember that pride was what caused Lucifer, one of God’s highest angels, to fall and be cast from heaven.

So, if it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone.

We need to be very careful, whether we are laypeople or leaders, not to let pride set in. We need to guard ourselves from pride and arrogance if we want to stay within God’s plan for us and continue to be used by Him.

How do we tell if we have become prideful?

Do we love it when people tell us how much they see God using us?

Do we gloat about the things God is doing through us?

Do we look down on others in the body of Christ because we feel we are better than them, or more gifted than them?

Do we get hung up on titles that make us sound distinguished?

This is just a short list of things we can use to check ourselves. It’s critical that we’re 100% honest about all of them. And we need to let God show us where we’re at with this.

We encourage everyone to let God give us all a heart examination. Let Him shine His bright, holy light into our hearts and lives and show us where pride may have crept in. And then let Him root it out once and for all.

We can’t let pride destroy us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-17

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Love on God today and lift up His Holy Son, Jesus Christ, the Savior of this world. He has made a way for each one us to live life more abundantly, as we believe and follow in His footsteps, and live each day with a desire to please Him.

We won’t be perfect in doing this, and God knows that. So, don’t give up if we mess up. Get back on track and start again.

He won’t give up on us, so don’t give up on Him. We need to go after Him with everything in us. Set time aside just for Him and He will bless us.

Matthew 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Hunger and thirst for Him. Follow in the footsteps He places before us. Our lives will be abundantly blessed, and we will be filled.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-11-17

John 12:32 (NKJV) 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

We want to lift God up today and give Him all of the glory, honor and praise.

For the past 12+ years, as God has led Seven Seas Ministries and My Bible Verse of The Day, we have had the privilege and honor to work alongside of Him. And He has been faithful in drawing many, many people all over this world to Himself.

We say this with all humility. It is truly a blessing to see what God can do in the lives of others, as they put their faith and trust in Him.

It’s not our work, but His. Amen.

We get to watch and hear of many homes, families, marriages and people’s hearts being changed.

Today, as we share this, we want you all to understand that we take no credit for any of it. This is purely God’s hand in your life. We just watch in awe, and enjoy everything that He lets us hear about or see!

We are honored to be able to see a miracle happen in someone’s life, hear about a healing, a financial breakthrough, or a change of heart.

You see, when we all personally line up with God, things change! That’s all we can say; things are happening every single day!

When we wake up each morning, there is an anticipation. Who will we hear from today that has been touched by God? Or what will God do in our own lives today?

What an amazing and exciting, but very humbling way to live!  Children of God, we are all so very blessed, and we don’t even know the half of it!

Luke 6:21 (NKJV) 21 Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh.

Lift Him up today. Be encouraged, for the Lord will draw us unto Him. And as we come, our life will be blessed!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-10-17

Proverbs 2:10-11 (NKJV) 10 When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, 11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you…

Today we’re going to continue to look at wisdom and its benefits.

As we mentioned yesterday, God wants all of us to have wisdom. And, in fact, He has told us in His word to ask for it, and He will give it.

Why is wisdom so important? What benefits does wisdom give us? Here’s what His word says.

A – As we gain wisdom, we also gain discretion. And His word says that discretion will preserve us. It will protect us and keep us from making foolish choices and decisions.

B – Verse 11, above, also tells us that having wisdom gives us understanding. And understanding will keep (protect & shield) us.

What will it protect and shield us from? Check out verses 12 – 17 for a list of some of the things we will be protected from if we have wisdom and use it in our day to day lives.

Proverbs 2:12 To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things…

Wisdom will deliver us (set us free from) the way of evil.

Proverbs 2:13 From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

It will also protect us from those who walk in darkness, and from those who speak perverse (unreasonable, unacceptable) things, those who rejoice in doing evil, those whose ways are crooked (unethical, immoral) and those who are devious (using underhanded tactics) in their paths.

Proverbs 2:14-15 Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked; 15 Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths;

Wisdom will deliver us from the immoral woman (or man), the seductress (or seducer), those who are given to perverse sexual practices (adultery, fornication, etc.) and forsake the one they are avowed to, even forgetting their covenant with God.

Proverbs 2:16 – 17To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words, 17 Who forsakes the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God.

As we can see, the benefits of wisdom are many! And the list of things and people it protects us from is far-reaching.

And, do you know what else? This is just a very tiny list of reasons why we should ask God for wisdom.

So seek God, ask Him for wisdom. And as He gives it liberally, we can enjoy its benefits, keeping our feet on the path that God has set them on.

Amen.
