Bible Verse of The Day – The Things God Calls Us Into – 8-20-17

Greetings!

At different times of our lives, we walk through certain situations or find our circumstances changing.

Sometimes those situations and circumstances can seem pretty dark and uncomfortable to walk through. They can cause us to look at things in a very negative way.

Our newest video is live, and it deals with this very subject!

Please click here to watch the video now.

When things around us seem dark and hard to handle, we tend to want to run and get away from the pressure. But that’s not necessarily what God wants us to do.

Please click here to watch the video now.

God wants us to learn how to let Him use us in those times, to shine His light in the dark places that so badly need Him.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Be abundantly blessed.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-19-17

2 Peter 1:3-4 (NKJV) 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Let’s talk about lust for a moment, and the problems it can cause. Corruption in this world has come through the simple actions of lust.

When we think of the word lust, we automatically think of sex. But to lust means to crave pleasure or delight. To wish, to have intense longing, craving, enthusiasm and eagerness, but not just for sex.

If we lust after money, we become greedy. If we lust after power we become prideful, controlling and arrogant. If we lust after women or men we become fornicators or adulterers. If we lust after anything in any way, it will eventually lead to corruption.

Lust will drive us to do things that we don’t normally do. It changes our attitudes and it hardens our hearts. It blindsides us and causes us to push the important things in life aside. It ruins and destroys marriages, families, friendships, businesses and ministries.

It takes what God makes beautiful and tries to destroy it.

How do we escape from lust today?

By reaching out and grabbing hold of God’s divine power, and His knowledge, through His Precious Son Jesus Christ, that we may overcome it and live a godly life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-18-17

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus walked the earth, sinless. He knew no sin.

This is something that’s hard for our minds to comprehend. We have a hard time wrapping our heads around the fact that a man, a human being, could live for 33 years and not sin. Not even once.

But it is what was required of Him. It was necessary. It was His purpose to come to earth and live a sinless life.

Why?

Because we needed redemption. We needed someone to build a bridge between us and a holy God, whom we had been separated from by our own transgressions. We needed someone who could blot out our own sins and make us righteous, in spite of ourselves.

Jesus was that One. He came and lived. And He died, for you and for me, to redeem us.

His lack of sin proves our need for Him. Without Him we would be hopeless and lost, forever condemned.

But with Him, we have hope!

Titus summed it very well in these verses:

Titus 2:11-14 (NKJV) 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

We have hope, in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-17-17

Exodus 16:4 (NKJV) Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.

This is very interesting. The bread that the Lord rained down was supposed to do what? TEST the people.

And what was the test? To see if the people would walk in God’s law or not. To see if they would follow His commandments and only collect what he told them to.

Have we ever wondered why we haven’t gone further ahead, or why we are still in the same place?

Maybe we are NOT passing the test when it comes to following God’s word to us. Maybe we are missing some steps, things that He has asked us to do. Are we not budging, not even making an effort to try and get it right?

If we are in school, and we don’t pass the test, we usually don’t do well in that subject. Why? Because we haven’t learned all that we needed to learn.

So we have to study more and take the test again, until we pass. And then we can feel confident to move forward. Studying gives us the understanding we need to correctly apply what we learned.

God will sometimes give us little test here and there, to see if we are ready for certain things. Will we pass it or will we have to do it over?

If we feel like we are not getting ahead, and we are stuck in one place, ask God why. Ask Him to help us learn what we need to learn so we can go forward.

It could be the simplest thing that we are missing, because we just don’t want to budge on it, and that one thing is holding us back.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-16-17

Psalm 51:17 (NKJV) 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart – These, O God, You will not despise.

Brokenness. That word alone conjures up images of someone who is hurting and in pain. That person has probably endured intense suffering and heartbreak of some kind.

Nobody likes being broken. It hurts. It crushes our spirit.

But being broken is where we need to be before God can truly work in our lives.

This doesn’t mean that we have to go through tragedy to be broken. But it does mean that we have to reach a place where we bow before God and lay ourselves at His feet, in surrender.

Isaiah 66:2 (NKJV) 2 For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.

Reverence for God is a huge part of being broken before Him. When we have reached a place of beginning to understand His awesomeness, and we develop a holy fear of Him, then, and only then, will we truly understand being broken before Him.

Many times we will tell God to break us. We pray for Him to break our will and humble us, bringing us into complete submission to Him. But this is a false notion. God does not desire to break us. He desires for us to come to Him in our brokenness.

Asking God to break us is akin to giving Him permission to cause trials and calamity to come raining down upon us in order to drive us to the ground and have no other place to turn, except to Him.

This is a dangerous prayer, to say the least. Listen to these words of Jesus on this topic.

Matthew 21:44 (NKJV) 44 And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”

Those are words of powerful truth on this topic.

So it’s critically important that we understand this and let God adjust our thinking on this subject. Once we get this, it changes the way we see things, perceive things and do things.

We will no longer pray and ask God to break us. Instead, we will pray and tell God how much we love Him, honor Him and need Him. And as we do this, we will find ourselves kneeling or laying at His feet, in total surrender, broken before Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-15-17

John 12:32 (NKJV) 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

Jesus has a way of drawing people to Him. He knows the moment we need Him and He waits for us to come. He’s not pushy, He’s not forceful. He is not manipulative or intimidating. He simply has a way about Him that gently draws us.

He is our example when ministering to others. We can see in His word how kindhearted He is. And He wants us to see, by His example, how we are to treat others.

When we go to Him in prayer and we confess our sins, He is quick to forgive us. And if we pay close attention to Him, and do what he tells us to, He is quick to help us out.

This is how we should be with others that come to us and share their situation with us. We can’t just look at them and say things or have thoughts like “Well, you’ve done this to yourself, so live with it”.

Just as Jesus is so forgiving, patient, kindhearted and loving with us, He wants us to express the same to others.

We are the little lights that walk this earth. Let us shine brightly and point the way to Jesus!

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-14-17

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.

God wants us to get personal with Him!

He wants us to draw near to Him and learn of Him. He wants us to press in to Him and build that one-on-one relationship with Him and take it to new heights. He wants to walk hand in hand with us!

He wants us to make our needs known to Him and trust Him with them, to supply us with what we need.

As believers, most of us are guilty, at one time or another, of bringing our needs to our pastors, our friends, our family and others. And sometimes we might even pray and ask God for help.

But then we just leave it there and never wait or listen to see what God wants us to do next. For some reason we think that once we bring it to God (or whoever else), that we can just forget about it and move on to other things. We rarely consider the fact that God may require us to take steps in order to bring the victory we’re asking for.

God is faithful to show us what we need to do. Sometimes we won’t need to do anything. But, more often than not, God will give us steps to take to carry out His plan. We need to be diligent to listen and then obey and follow His leading.

Living by faith is exciting! We can learn to live in anticipation of what God will do for us next. And we will never look back. We will never miss the days when we wished we could have the faith to see God move.

Now we can see Him move on our behalf each and every day, knowing that He is faithful and that His promises are true. And our lives will never be the same again.

Trust Him. Draw near to Him. Press in to Him. And watch your faith grow like never before.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-17

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

We have an enemy. He has one purpose; to steal, kill and destroy.

And who does he want to steal from, kill and destroy? Us. You and me.

This is evident each and every day that we live and breathe. We see death and destruction all around us. Sometimes it affects us directly, up close and personal. Other times we just see it from a distance, as it wreaks havoc with those around us or people we don’t know.

And, yes, it can be scary and intimidating sometimes.

But, God has given us hope and a reason to rejoice!

And that reason has a name; Jesus Christ.

Jesus came so that we may have abundant life in Him! He has defeated the enemy once and for all.

Revelation 1:18 (NKJV) 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

No matter what things look like on the surface, we need to always remember that God is still in control. He is still on the throne.

And even in the midst of our trials and hard times, our joy and happiness can still prevail. Why? Because we have a Savior who is alive, even after being crucified and laid in the grave.

More than that, we can have abundant life in Him! Our lives don’t have to be mundane and worrisome. We don’t have to rise up each morning dreading the day ahead of us.

Rise up each morning knowing that we have victory in Jesus. And when the enemy whispers in your ear, telling you that you are defeated and hopeless, don’t buy the lie.

Stand up tall and rebuke his filthy lies, in the name of Jesus. Victory and abundance in Jesus are yours! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-11-17

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Not forgiving ourselves for the things we have done in the past can cause us to be tormented, stressed out and living a life with no peace.

As we go to God and ask Him to forgive us for the sins that we have committed, He forgives us! He cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Not just a little of it, but ALL of it.

The question is “do we forgive ourselves for doing those things we did?”. Do we let it go and realize that we are not perfect and we will make bad choices sometimes?

The hard part for some of us isn’t asking God to forgive us, but finding it in us to forgive ourselves for what we did.

This is a big thing with a lot of Christians. They know God has forgiven them. But there’s this “BUT” that keeps nagging at them. It starts with “but I knew better and shouldn’t have, so I will not allow myself to forget what I’ve done. And I will be in pain and misery the rest of my life. And I will carry guilt and shame with me everywhere I go”.

This is wrong thinking. It is not how God wants us to live.

We have a tendency to think, just because we are believers, that we should do no wrong, and that Christians have no room to make a mistake. We find it very hard to accept it when we do mess up.

God never said that when you became His child that you would NOT make any mistakes. He knows that we will. And He doesn’t want us to beat up ourselves, or others, for making those mistakes.

He wants us to learn that, as soon as we know we have done something wrong, we should ask for His forgiveness, and then move on.

Get out from under torment and stress. Let’s stop walking around with a scowl on our faces. Smile and rejoice, for God has made provision for us and others to be set free from all unrighteousness! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-10-17

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Life and its problems can take its toll on us. It can cause a spiritual and a natural exhaustion as we face certain situations, even though God tells us in His word that we are more than conquerors through Him.

It doesn’t mean that our spirit, mind and soul don’t need a place to go and find rest and shelter. Part of conquering things through Him, our Lord, is learning to pull away and go somewhere quiet.

For some, this may be a much-needed vacation. For others it is just a drive to a spot that we know is quiet and peaceful. It could also be as simple as walking out into our own back yard and sitting for a while, unwinding and reflecting on God and His blessings.

Getting to that quiet spot where no one can reach us is so important.

It’s hard to believe, but taking rest at the right time can actually build us up in helping us to be those conquerors.

Take time today and go to a quiet spot where we can find rest, where we can let God have us all to Himself, where we can listen and where we can get things off our chest. God is that special Someone who wants to hear what we have to say and really cares about how we feel.

Find that place of rest and take shelter in Him today.
