Bible Verse of The Day – 8-31-17

Matthew 1:21 (NKJV) 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Notice in the verse above that it says, “His” people.

Who are His people? His people are all those who believe and trust in Him as their Messiah. It’s sad, but not all people will accept Him or His gift of salvation.

Jesus asked Peter, “who do you say that I am?”.

Mark 8:29 (NKJV) 29 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.”

This had been revealed to Peter by the Holy Spirit, not because of intellectual understanding or logic.

It is important that we don’t just know who Jesus is intellectually, by reading and studying about Him, but that we know Him personally.

We do this by accepting the free gift of salvation, and then by listening for and following His direction and correction in our life. We walk with Him daily, acknowledging that He is with us and understanding that He wants to be a part of what we do.

We might ask how. How do we have this personal relationship with Him? How is He with us?

After Jesus left this earth, His Father did a wonderful thing for us all. He sent the Holy Spirit, our Helper. The Holy Spirit knows all things. But we have to be sensitive to Him and give Him a place within us to live and to be free to move, in order for Him to work.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

He will remind us of the right things to do. He will help us with discipline and strength when we need it. He will give us the determination to stick with things when our flesh wants to give up.

There is so much He will do to help us. Even in those seemingly small and insignificant situations that we get ourselves into, they are important to Him and He wants to help us sort them out.

The Holy Spirit will help us have a personal, one-on-one relationship with Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-30-17

Psalm 89:8 (NKJV) 8 O Lord God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

God is faithful to help us ordinary people do great things on this earth, and still remain humble.

Here are just a few examples…

If Joseph didn’t do his part, if Mary didn’t do her part, if John the Baptist didn’t do his part, where would we be today? These were just ordinary people following God’s plan with their hearts.

You see, Joseph’s part was to believe what God was doing in Mary. This child of the Holy Spirit, this child who would come and save us from our sins, was in his soon-to-be wife’s belly. He had to believe and accept that it was as he had been told. It took an angel to convince him, but he accepted it.

After the child was born, he had to follow God’s steps in keeping Him safe and protected. Right from the beginning, his son was sought after. Herod wanted Him dead. In order to keep Him alive, Joseph had to listen to God and obey Him, taking the necessary steps to keep his Son alive.

Mary’s part was to accept God’s word for her, that she would be pregnant by the seed of the Holy Spirit and carry God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

She had to believe that she would be impregnated without ever being intimately involved with a man. That takes faith!

John the Baptist was to be a witness for Jesus, telling people about Him before anyone knew who He was. He was a ground breaker, so to speak. He was a preparer; someone who puts his reputation on the line. And he couldn’t care less what people thought about him.

The birth and preparation of our Messiah took place through God speaking to ordinary people like you and I. All they did was believe and obey.

We ask the question; do we know what God is speaking to our hearts today? Believe Him, listen for the steps, and obey. He is faithful to see it through! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-29-17

John 15:17 (NKJV) 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

After all that Jesus had said and done, and after all He had been through, He left the disciples with one very short commandment; Love One Another.

How incredibly profound is that?

You see, Jesus knew that of everything we could say and do, as His followers, the one thing that would have the most impact was love.

Emotions are very powerful things. We feel so many things. We feel excitement. We feel anger. We feel anticipation. We feel disappointment. And we feel love. And to love is the one thing that Jesus told us to do before He left us.

The apostle Paul reiterated this in one of his epistles.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Love overcomes everything, if we let it. But before love can overcome anything, we need to love others with a love that God has placed in us.

We need to love without judging. We need to love without condemning. We need to love just because. Because God has told us to.

And if we get God’s heart in us, then we can do this without hesitation.

Will it always be easy? Absolutely not. It will be the hardest thing we do in our lives. Loving someone who loves you back is easy. But loving someone who is spewing hatred at you is not easy at all.

So, it’s critical that we spend time with God, pressing in to Him and drawing near to Him so He can teach us how to love with His love.

It’s time for us all to step up to the plate and let God teach us what it really means to love one another, without boundaries, without hesitation and without reservation.

We need to love with abandon.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-28-17

John 14:1 (NKJV) 14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Are you troubled today?

Has something happened recently that concerns you or is causing you to worry? Do you spend your days worrying and fretting?

We all go through this once in a while. Stuff happens in life that can cause us to stumble, and our faith can even waver at times.

But as we walk through each day, it’s important that we don’t let our troubles become our focus. Focusing on our problems will only make them seem bigger than they are. Even if they are big, spending all of our time thinking about them will make them seem even bigger.

Jesus told us not to let our hearts be troubled. His words are true and trustworthy. So it would benefit us greatly to heed what He says!

It’s not always easy to do that. This is why it’s so important that we strengthen and build our walk with God. As we grow closer to Him, we learn to trust Him more. As we trust Him more, our faith grows. And as our faith grows, we spend less and less time with troubled hearts, worrying about every little thing that comes our way.

So, we need to take our troubles, and the yoke and burden they place upon us, and trade them in for the yoke of Jesus. Because His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Matthew 11:29-30 (NKJV) 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Bible Verse of The Day – Did God Really Say That? – 8-27-17

Greetings in the name of our great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ!

Have you ever heard something that you thought might have been God speaking to you, but you weren’t really sure? Or has someone ever told you that God has given them a word for you?

This happens a lot. And our newest video talks specifically about this. In today’s video, we dive headfirst into this delicate subject. And we give real-life examples.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Sometimes God speaks to us through others. And sometimes people with good intentions say things that can be harmful if we don’t weigh them carefully and get God on them.

Please click here to watch the video now.

And even when God does speak to us, knowing how to discern it and walk it out is critical.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Enjoy the rest of your day, and keep pressing in to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-26-17

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Every one of us is unique, and God loves us all.

We each have our good things about us and then the things we need to work on. Of course, we feel great when the good things are at work. But boy, when we do something that we know we could have done better at, it bugs us and can make us mad, frustrated and disappointed.

Feeling like that is not necessarily a bad thing, though. When we know we can do better at something, it’s good that we push ourselves to try harder. To become all that we can be is what God wants for us. He wants us to excel!

He is rooting for us, to keep going, keep trying, and not give up. Through Christ we can do more and be more than conquerors.

This doesn’t mean that we will be perfect or get it right 100% of the time. Perfection is found only in One man; Jesus.

But sometimes we have to pick ourselves up and push harder. Giving up is not what God wants for us. We are winners, in and through Christ!

We have the Holy Spirit moving in us. Let’s grab hold of what God has given to us and do our very best.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-25-17

Hebrews 13:1 (NKJV) 13 Let brotherly love continue.

Today, as we sit here to put another Bible Verse and devotional message together, we are reminded of how devoted each one of you are.

Our hearts are humbled and we are ever so grateful for the love we receive from you, our brothers and sisters in Christ!

Going into this year, we had some things we were facing; things that we needed God to make provision for.

He told us to trust Him when we stepped out 8 years ago. He told us to trust Him when we decided to do what we felt He was calling us into. Not knowing how it would turn out, we stepped.

We passed up job opportunities that would take care of us and bring security. We passed up living in areas we would love to spend time in. Instead, we said yes to God.

This changed us for good. We had no idea that on the other side of this computer, you would be there. You were there waiting, listening and open to God for what He wanted to say and do through you.

He has used you to help us in this faith walk. You have been obedient in your giving and your sowing, both in your time of drought and in your time of feast! You have stepped out and obeyed. And God took care of our needs.

Thank you for helping us. Thank you for listening and stepping out, and for following what God has put in your hearts to do.

Together we will continue to reach this world with the message of the hope found in Christ. We will bring His hope, peace and love. We will stand together and help people find the truth, as we found ours. Amen

Here is our heartfelt prayer today.

Dear God in Heaven,

Bless these dear ones who have been ever so faithful, diligent and consistent, not only in their giving but in their walk with YOU. We know that You have blessed them for their obedience more than we could ever do. We pray Your protection over them.

And we pray for a burning desire in them to keep growing, keep obeying and keep walking close to You. Help them to keep trusting that as You guide them to take new steps, they never look back. That they just move forward in this journey You have them on, knowing You will be right there with them.

And we pray these things in the precious name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

God bless you all. We are here for you!

Love and tight hugs to all of you from the bottom of our hearts.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-17

Romans 6:23 (NKJV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sin has its consequences.

God’s word says that the price of sin is death. Death, in this instance, doesn’t necessarily mean that someone will physically die right away if they sin.

But there’s a bigger picture that we need to see.

The effects of sin are far-reaching. Some of those effects are immediate. Others take time to manifest and become visible.

Sin can destroy many different aspects of our lives; relationships, careers, reputations, our health and much more.

Even worse, though, sin will destroy our relationship with God if we don’t get a handle on it and turn from it.

Sin separates us from God. It creates a divide that we can feel. It will leave us feeling lost, alone and ashamed.

But here’s the good news! Sin doesn’t have to rule over us or ruin our lives. We can overcome sin through Jesus Christ, the One who gave His life for us.

God gave us a gift. It’s the gift of eternal life through Jesus. We just need to reach out and take that gift; accept it on a personal level.

With that gift comes forgiveness for our sins. It’s not complicated or hard to do. It doesn’t require a 12-step program. It only requires that we recognize our sinful state and our need for forgiveness through Jesus Christ. And then we just have to open our mouths and ask for it.

So, we all have a choice. We can choose sin, and death. Or, we can choose righteousness, and life through God’s gift of mercy and grace.

Which one will we choose? Choose life!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-23-17

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Submission; that’s a wonderful word we all love to hear, right?

Not usually. It takes us time to learn how to submit. It takes us a bit of time to learn who to submit to. And it takes time and effort to walk in and remain in submission.

Our mind automatically wants to do its own thing. It wars against the things of God. It wants to be free to say and do whatever it wants.

Romans 8:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

When we are walking in the flesh, we are not pleasing God. We are pleasing ourselves. Submitting to God means letting His Spirit dwell in us and guide our heart and our mind. This changes the way we think and the way we do things.

One of the things we can be certain about, when it comes to submitting, is learning that if God is asking us to do something then we can surely know that it’s going to turn out good, whether we fully understand it or not.

How do we tell if it is God or just our minds speaking to us?

Whatever it is that God asks us to do, it will always go along with His word. He won’t ask us to do something that goes against His truth spoken in the Holy Bible.

Don’t hesitate to do things the way God is asking us to do them. We may not understand them at first, but that is where our faith will have to kick in.

Submitting to God may sometimes cause us to think and feel like we don’t know what we are doing, because usually we have never done it this way before. It is a very humbling experience.

1 Peter 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time…

Our question today is this: Are we ready to humble ourselves, let go and submit everything to Him? Are we ready to trust Him in His “due time?”

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-17

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV) 18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

Are we so busy trying to hang on to the past that we are missing out on today? This is a question we have to ask ourselves every so often. Why? Because we will have times in our lives that will stand out greater than others and we will want those times to stick around and stay forever. We want them to last.

But by living in the past, we stop ourselves from moving forward. When we do this, we are only going to hurt ourselves. It won’t bring anything back to the way that it was.

If we want to fix this problem, the first step we need to take is to recognize and accept the change that took place. Maybe it wasn’t a good change. Maybe it wasn’t necessarily something that should have happened. But, whatever it was, we need to face the fact that it did happen and things are different than they were.

The second thing we will have to do is begin to live with it by making the necessary adjustments. Don’t try to keep things the same way. Don’t keep going over it in our minds, thinking that maybe if we did this or maybe if we did that it could have changed things and the outcome would have been better. No. Just accept it. It is what it is now and all of the thinking and wondering won’t make it go back to the way it was.

The third and last thing is not to feel bad or guilty after the change, especially if we are enjoying our life. There is nothing wrong with enjoying our life, even after something has happened that may have caused us to be sad initially. Enjoying our life is a sure sign that we have moved on and adjusted well.

Let go of the past and move forward. There is so much more out there for each one of us if we will stop looking back and start looking forward.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-21-17

Psalm 139:13 (NKJV) 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

I want to speak to those today who are in constant battle with shame, guilt, feeling unloved, feeling ugly, unwanted and worthless.

This is a word of knowledge and understanding for you today. You may feel like this because of others mistreating you, picking on you and saying negative things toward you.

At first you didn’t believe them. You didn’t listen. You fought it with everything in you because you knew it wasn’t you. But as it pounded on you, day in and day out, over the years you got tired, and you gave in.

You have received what they have said about you and you have taken it on as truth. You have been sad, angry, depressed and feeling hurt. You try to smile when you’re around people, but the pain in your heart just grows deeper and deeper. You act like nothing is wrong on the outside. But inside, your joy for living has been stolen.

Today you are going to get delivered from this, because deep down inside you know that it is not true. You know that it’s a lie and you will not stand by and be tormented any longer. You will not allow this voice to steal your joy, peace and life. You are done living like this and from now on you are going to live and be who God says you are.

Your Creator calls you “fearfully and wonderfully made”… period. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. It is what it is; Truth!

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV) 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.

If you are going through this today, this prayer is for you.

Dear God in Heaven,

I am sorry for listening and believing the lies that others have spoken about me. Please forgive me. Today I want to believe the truth about me, who You say I am. I want Your help in believing and being all that You have called me to be.

I rebuke the devil and his lies, in Jesus’ name; all that he has been whispering in my ears, causing me to think I am no good, and feeling ashamed of who I am.

Today, is a NEW day and I’m so wanting to be all that You have called me to be and walk in it daily. For You alone, oh Lord, formed and covered me in my Mama’s womb. You alone know me better than any other.

Thank you today, Lord, for Your deliverance and for saving me.

In Jesus’ name I ask. Amen.
