Bible Verse of The Day – 9-7-16

Proverbs 19:11 (NKJV) 11 The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.

Anger.

It can affect so many of us in one way or another.

We can have anger in us, or others around us can be angry. Either way, it can alter our direction, sway our emotions and change the outcome of any situation where it is present.

There are very few situations where anger is good or brings good results. In some cases, anger can be a driving force that brings sweeping, positive change to bad situations.

But in order for that to happen, anger should only be the catalyst that prompts someone to change something bad. The change itself, though, needs to be acted on with love, forgiveness and a genuine desire to help people.

Anger with no boundaries will only bring destruction and more anger, along with bitterness and hatred. It will create a never-ending cycle of destruction that will last for generations if left unchecked.

We, as God’s people, need to be able to learn to overlook transgressions, even when they seem terribly unjust, and let God show us how to react by His spirit, not by our own emotions.

Only then will we be able to see past our anger and make something good and positive come out of it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-6-16

Matthew 13:22 (NKJV) 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

Life can be busy. Sometimes it can be too busy!

There are so many things that can pull on us and vie for our time and attention. It’s up to us to defend our time and keep out those things that aren’t good for our walk with God.

For some reason, when we begin to take on extra tasks or when things sneak in that use up our time, our relationship with God is always the first thing that suffers.

Many times, we can spend our “extra” time working or coming up with ways to make more money. Or maybe we get involved in other kinds of activities that pull on us for more and more of our time.

These are called “the cares of the world” And these are the things that come and suck the life out of our walk with God, causing us to wither and die, if we’re not careful.

But it doesn’t have to be this way!

We just need to keep alert and guard our time so we don’t become like the seed that fell among the thorns.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-5-16

Psalm 119:64 (NKJV) 64 The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy; Teach me Your statutes.

God’s word is full of real life lessons. His statutes are written throughout it.

We took our lunch break down by the ocean yesterday. While enjoying the beautiful ocean, we were reminded of how God split the sea open for Moses and the Israelites so they could cross over when they came under attack by the Egyptian army.

Wow! What a lesson of deliverance.

Can you imagine seeing an army of people coming after you from a distance and all you see in front of you is the deep blue sea? I would have been so scared, not knowing what to do, with fear and anxiety rushing through my mind. What do we do GOD? We’re stuck. Our backs are up against a wall!

But Moses knew His God and cried out to Him and God told Him what to do.

Exodus 14:21 (NKJV) 21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.

They were able to cross over to the other side on dry land!

Boy, they surely got to see a miraculous thing done right before their eyes. It’s just so incredible. How could anyone ever be the same after seeing that? After seeing God’s hand move in such a powerful way.

This is a lesson for us. God is showing us that He was there for Moses. He was there for the Israelites. And He will be there for us as well! He is faithful.

Are we feeling captured, with nowhere to turn, with the enemy breathing down our necks?

Follow His statutes. Hear what He is saying to us. Take His words and live them out. Make it personal. Claim His promises over your life today.

He will deliver us! His mercy and love for us is the same as it was for them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-3-16

Romans 14:11 (NKJV) 11 For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.”

There are so many things in the world that claim to be “it”.

There are philosophies and philosophers. There are political leaders and political parties. There are organizations that claim to represent the interests of a specific race or ethnicity. There are religions and denominations. The list is endless.

And many of these will tell you that they have the answers to life’s dilemmas. Many will even boast that they are the ultimate authority: the end all, be all.

But there is One who is the Truth, the Life and the Way.

He knows all. He created all. He is the only true authority. He is the author and finisher of our faith. Without Him there would be nothing. End of story.

So we challenge everyone who may read this; check yourselves. Weigh your words carefully. Test what you think is true in your philosophies, your religious traditions and your political ways.

Humble yourselves in the sight of God. Bow before Him today and repent of your prideful ways.

Do it now while there is still time. We all have to choose while we’re still here, alive on earth. For even if we fail to bow before Him now, we will bow before Him at some point in the future.

And it is much better to bow now, and call Him Lord than to bow before Him later and regret not doing it sooner.

Today is the day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-2-16

Psalm 95:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice:

How do we hear His voice?

We hear His voice when He becomes our God. We hear His voice when we decide to open up and listen. We hear His voice when we let Him have control over our situations, over our lives. We hear His voice when we pull back and let Him move.

It’s not hard to hear the voice of God. What is hard, and the thing we struggle the most with, is letting Him be God in our life.

If we can do this He will speak and show us all that He has for us and all that He wants to do with us and through us!

He will help us through the toughest of tough times. He will free us from the things in life that would want to take us out. He will love on us with His mercy and grace.

Oh come, let us Worship Him today. Bow down. Kneel before Him. He is our Lord and our Maker. Hear His voice. He is speaking.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-1-16

Matthew 8:26 (NKJV) 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

What is the size of our faith? Are we very little in faith? Are we just doing enough to keep us content?

In order to grow our faith we have to take steps and sometimes those steps are very scary and uncomfortable. Sometimes the steps can make us angry and mad, because we like where we are at and we don’t want things to change.

But these are the very steps that bring humility. And the very steps that may challenge our own understanding and cause us to stand stronger in God’s promises.

They cause us to rely on Him, to seek Him for the next step and to follow Him in obedience. These steps cause us to look to Him when we are used to relying on ourselves. Ouch.

Whatever it is that God is calling us to do, we need to step out! Not on our own, but with Him beside us, guiding us and with us standing strong on His promise, His word.

Don’t step out thinking “we’ve got this”. Step out knowing that if it is what He is asking us to do, that He’s got this.

Matthew 14:29 (NKJV) 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

When Peter stepped out of the boat, He knew He did not have what it took to stand on that water. But He knew the One who DID!

Peter didn’t need to step out of the boat. If you’re on the water, being in the boat would seem like the logical place to be, right?

But if Peter never stepped out of what he may have thought was the best place to be at that moment, or if he never stepped out of his place of being content or feeling safe, he would never ever have experienced what real faith could do for him at that very moment.

How many today are in a safe place of contentment, thinking it’s the best place to be?

Is Jesus calling us to take a step of faith? Is He asking us to step out of that place of comfort and contentment and get a glimpse of His miraculous work, His Might, His Power and His FAITHFULNESS?

Are we stuck today in what we think is the best place for us to be? Are we missing out on seeing a miracle in our life?

This is not something we do on our own, out of presumption or based on emotion. Just as Jesus called Peter out, He will call, or prompt us, in His timing. And if He does, it will be personal and in a unique way.

It may be something small, or it may be something big. It may be something we’ve never even thought of doing. But if it is Jesus prompting us and asking us, let’s take that step of faith in Him. Watch Him move!

Let Him grow our faith today as He leads us to take steps in certain directions and areas of our lives.

Amen.
