Bible Verse of The Day – 7-9-16

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Sometimes we all need a reminder about certain things.

We learn God’s word and we begin applying His principles to our lives, and as we do so, we see our lives change for the better.

We become softer and more receptive to His spirit. We are less harsh, less critical, less cynical.

And then the world starts to rub off on us. Sometimes it’s due to things that happen to us. Other times it’s just from being in the world, rubbing shoulders with everyone on a daily basis. Either way, it’s always good when our memory is refreshed and we hear God’s voice.

So today’s memory refresher is about love.

Love has been badly abused. It has become misunderstood. It has even been abandoned by some, because they mistook infatuation or lust for love.

Real love has the qualities in the verses above. Love is not perfect, unless it comes from the One who is love. But as human beings and followers of Christ, it’s our obligation to learn what God says love is and then walk it out.

1 John 4:8 (NKJV) 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Bible verse of The Day – 7-8-16

Psalm 33:12 (NKJV) 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Have we chosen God to be our Lord today?

Do we let Him be our everything in our good times and bad? Do we cast our cares and burdens at His feet and trust Him to guide us through? Are our decisions based on what He wants for us versus what we desire?

These are the kinds of things we will find that God wants from us, the closer we come to Him.

One thing we have noticed is that the more we let God help us and move us toward the things He wants us to do, the more we find ourselves learning to let go and rest in our thoughts, continuing to walk in His peace.

If you’re in a place today where you are feeling unsure about what is in the future for you, because there are so many changes hitting at once, don’t get scared and try to MAKE something happen out of fear.

Know that God has a plan, and remind yourself what the scripture says:

Psalm 18:30 (NKJV) 30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

He’s there working on your behalf.

Our prayers are with you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-7-16

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) 11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

What is faith?

This is a question asked by millions around the world just about every day.

First, here’s what faith is not.

Faith is not hype.
Faith is not emotionalism.
Faith is not weird.
Faith is not flaky.

Here’s what faith is: Believing something in our hearts that our heads can’t comprehend or understand, and being perfectly OK with that.

By faith, we trust God with our eternal destiny. We believe that Jesus died for us, rose from the dead and ascended to heaven.

By faith we believe that our sins are forgiven, simply by putting our faith in Christ and asking to be forgiven. There is no special song and dance we need to perform. We ask. We believe. We receive.

We don’t even question any of these things until we start trying to figure them out or try to make sense of them with our intellect. Only then does our faith begin to falter.

Don’t try to figure it out. Don’t try to make sense of it. Don’t try to get it to fit into an intellectual mold.

Faith can’t be figured out with logic or reasoning. It doesn’t make sense to our heads and it can never, ever be made to fit into any kind of intellectual box or mold.

Faith. It is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-6-16

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NKJV) 11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

We all need to be comforted at times, but today we are going to emphasize on men.

They need encouragement! They need gratitude. They need to hear “thank you” once in awhile. Their role as leader, head of the home, bringing in the income and taking care of the family is not an easy one and at times can be stressful, heavy and overbearing.

We may wonder at times why they are not fulfilling their duty as a man. It’s not always because they are neglecting it on purpose, or because they’d rather play or do something else. Sometimes they are just too tired, overwhelmed, overworked, scared and want to run.

Just because they are men it does not mean they don’t have feelings, emotions, and fears. They are human and they need help at times, just like anyone else.

They need our prayers. They need us to check up on them. They need to be asked at times if they’re OK or if they need some help.

Don’t take him for granted. Love, respect and pray for him.

May God guide us women in knowing how to help at times; To know when he is down in the dumps and clamming up, not saying a word because he feels that his role is to be strong all the time.

Men need to know it’s OK to let go and let God lead those around them to bring comfort and edification in times of need.

A prayer for men:

Dear God,

I feel tired today. My heart is weary, my strength is weak and I need you to bring me some comfort and edification. Forgive me for holding out and trying to do it all. I need you. And whatever you have to help me this day, I receive it and thank you for it.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-5-16

Acts 20:35 (NKJV) 35 I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

“I pray that God blesses you”.

“God’s blessings over you!”.

“May God bless you abundantly”.

How many times have we spoken these kinds of words to someone? We want God to bless them because of something they’ve done, either for you or someone you know. They’ve been generous, helpful or kind and you want God to somehow reward them. It’s happened to all of us.

But here’s a challenge for everyone today!

If we’re impressed that someone should be blessed, we need to consider the fact that maybe, just maybe, we’re the one that God wants to use to bless them!

That’s right. Us. You & me.

For some odd reason, we always hope someone will be blessed, but we fail to ever consider the fact that maybe God wants to use us to do the blessing. We always expect someone else to do it.

When we do this, we cause someone else to lose out on a blessing. We also lose out on a blessing ourselves, because we’ve disregarded or ignored God’s promptings.

Most times we do this because of a lack of understanding. Sometimes we do this because we don’t want to let go of our money or our possessions. Either way, it’s something that we may need to check ourselves on and let God show us where to make changes.

But it’s important that we do make the necessary changes. Because knowing that God requires something of us and not doing it is never a good situation to be in.

1 Samuel 15:22 (NKJV) 22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-4-16

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Tough times and the enemy of our soul will sometimes make us think that there is no way we can win… no way we can have victory in our walk with God.

Sometimes it can feel like we’re slipping away, ultimately heading toward an unsure destiny. But this is exactly what the enemy wants.

Know this: Nobody can steal your destiny, your eternal position with God. You are loved by Him with an immense, unexplainable love. End of story.

Think about this. God’s love is the only thing that is 100% unconditional.

There is nothing on this earth or in the heavens that can stop Him from loving you. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or where you’ve come from. You are loved.

So as you face the obstacles in front of you, the accusations against you, the consequences for choices you’ve made, never, ever think that God’s love for you is somehow dependent on what you’ve done, what you’re doing or what you’re going to do.

Rest in knowing that His love for you is irrevocable and never-ending.

You Are Loved!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-2-16

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Fear is very strong. It can be a life-changing problem for some people, if it is not overcome and put in its place.

God has never intended for any of us to live in fear of anything. Yes, there are things we should fear, in a healthy kind of way. But living in fear is not what God wants for us.

So how do we overcome fear and move forward with our lives?

First, we need to understand what we’re fearing. Most times we’re fearing something that has no power over us whatsoever. What do I mean by that? Let me explain.

We typically fear things that aren’t even in existence, such as possible scenarios, possible outcomes or possible results. These types of things can cause us to worry and be fearful.

Here’s what Jesus said about this:

Matthew 6:25-27 (NKJV) 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Sometimes we can be harassed or tormented by a spirit of fear. This is demonic in nature. Once we understand that this is what’s bothering us, we need to rebuke that spirit, in the name of Jesus. We have the authority, as a believer, to command it to leave. And it has to listen.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

But whatever it is that’s causing us to be fearful, we need to recognize it and do whatever is necessary to deal with it, putting it behind us and moving forward with God’s authority, strength, joy and peace.

It can take time to overcome fear completely. But it is possible, through Christ.

Today, look that thing in the face that’s causing you to be fearful. Speak to it and tell it that you will no longer live under it. And push it aside, in the name of Jesus. Victory is yours.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-1-16

1 Corinthians 12:14-18 (NKJV) 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.

Just as each part of our human body plays a significant role in being able to function as a whole person, so do the different parts in the body of Christ play a significant role in reaching the world.

Even in the body of Christ, we have our uniqueness; our strong areas, our weak areas, etc.

Consider a few of the different denominations.

I was saved and baptized in one denomination. In another denomination, I grew strong in other areas of my walk with God. Yet, in another denomination I grew even more strong and closer to God.

Each denomination taught me some very important things, helping me to have a wonderful relationship with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. I’m so grateful for each one of them.

It’s not wrong for people to belong to different denominations as long as they are biblically correct in their teachings. We can grow and learn, taking good things from each one of them.

I remember as a child, if you dared to go to another denomination, you were looked down on. Why?

I remember a pastor saying to me one time, when I had left his church to begin attending another one, “I won’t be back to visit you and don’t come around my people.”

We have to rise above this kind of behavior if we want to reach the world for Christ!

Each denomination has their strengths and operates in them. We can not frown or look down at others because they don’t do things the way we do them.

If we see that some things are wrong or misleading, pray for them. Ask God to help them find the truth.

Sometimes we see things go wrong and we immediately have a negative attitude toward the situation.

No one is perfect. Not a church, no pastor, no priest, no evangelist, and NO Christian, etc. There is always going to be room for learning and growing no matter who we are and what we’ve been taught.

The body of Christ needs to come together through prayer, love, and compassion for each other.

Psalm 133:1 (NKJV) 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
