Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-16

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Our ears pick up on things being said all throughout the day. We are in control over what conversations we want to get involved in. Knowing this in advance, we need to ask God to help us choose them carefully.

Words are powerful and we want to make sure that the things we say bring LIFE. That they are good, encouraging, uplifting and helpful.

How do we help change the atmosphere where there seems to be a lot of negative, destructive and gossipy talk?

We first rebuke satan and his attack against that place, or person where we hear it happening, in Jesus’ name.

If it’s our home, workplace, school, or even in our church, we then take charge over the atmosphere in those places for Jesus Christ. By simply saying, “I take charge over the atmosphere of this place for Jesus Christ, and no weapon formed against me or this place shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

We don’t let up even when we begin to see change. Because where there are people involved every day, there will be new emotions, new situations, and new attitudes occurring.

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in saying the right words when needed.

Our words and our actions can be very powerful, even when we think no one is listening or watching, because we are dealing with more than people. We are dealing with spiritual things that have been released into the atmosphere in these places.

God is faithful to help us and give us discerning hearts, sharp ears and words of wisdom.

Remember, a word can bring change. So don’t be afraid to speak up at times and defuse the enemy and his attack. Amen

2 Samuel 23:2 (NKJV) 2 “The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-6-16

Numbers 13:17 (NKJV) 17 Then Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan…

The Israelites had been wandering in the desert for many years. As they encamped close to the land that God had promised them, Moses commanded some of the men to go and spy out the land.

So Caleb and others went and did as they were told. And then they returned with their report.

The fruit was larger than anything they had ever seen. The land truly flowed with milk and honey. The land was just as God had promised.

But some of them reported a problem. The cities were fortified and very large. And the people who dwelt there were extremely large in stature… giants. The Israelites saw themselves as grasshoppers in their own site when compared to these men. They were all very fearful and thought it best not to invade this land.

They saw things through eyes of fear.

But Caleb spoke up and told them that they could very well go in and possess the land!

Numbers 13:30 (NKJV) 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

Caleb saw things through eyes of faith. And he was one of the people who was eventually able to go in and possess the land. While those who doubted never entered in.

There will be times when God asks us to do something that appears to be impossible if we look at it through natural eyes and intellect.

Caleb and Joshua were able to go in and possess the land because they had faith. They trusted God and His promise to them.

This is a great lesson for all of us. When God asks us to do something that seems impossible in the natural, will we have faith enough to trust Him and do what He asks?

How will we see things? Through eyes of fear or eyes of faith?

A great question for us to ponder on today 🙂

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-4-16

Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV) 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

We’re born. We live. We die.

Our lives are brief compared to eternity. So what do we do with our lives while we’re here on earth?

Modern culture tells us that we should work hard to climb the ladder of success. You know, own a home, drive a nice car and work a great job.

“Make a lot of money”, says the world. “The more money you make, the happier you will be”.

But what did Jesus say? “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth“.

That sounds quite the opposite of what most of us are taught!

No, it’s not wrong to be successful. No, it’s not wrong to have nice things.

But where is our heart? Are we spending more time and effort chasing after these things than we are chasing after God?

Something for us to think about.

Ecclesiastes 1:14 (NKJV) 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-3-16

Zechariah 2:8 (NKJV) 8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

If we need constant attention from our spouse, our family and/or our friends etc., there may be an underlying problem going on.

If we find ourselves getting upset, sad, depressed, or angry over not having enough attention at times, it could possibly be we are dealing with insecurities within ourselves.

We can’t always put the blame on someone else for not giving us the attention we feel we need. We need to face what is going on inside of us and get the right kind of help.

We may have been hurt from words or accusations spoken over us at one time or another.

Maybe someone has spoken down to us and made us feel inadequate, ignorant and not worth much. And now we strive for a certain amount of attention from certain people in order to make us feel better about ourselves.

No matter how much attention we get from others, it will not heal or take away the pain we feel from this kind of treatment, behavior or actions against us.

The words and feelings will torment us until we face it and get healing from God.

Because of what has been said or done to us at times, it may have scarred us, leaving us not sure of ourselves and insecure about who we are. This can cause us to constantly be demanding attention.

Striving to have all the attention will never fix the problem. There will never be enough attention to take it away.

We must rebuke the lies that have been spoken over us, about us and against us. We must also rebuke, in the name Jesus Christ, the negative and ignorant words that are trying to control us and our behavior.

Ask God to set us free and heal our mind and heart and help us to see ourselves the way He sees us, as the apple of His eye. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-2-16

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV) 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Being thankful is a key part of our walk as a follower of Christ.

Even if our life isn’t what we think it should be or what we want it to be, we still have much to be thankful for.

We could make up a list of things to be thankful for, but in reality, we shouldn’t have to rely on a list in order to be thankful. And our thankfulness shouldn’t be based on what we have.

God has shown us His mercy. He has given us grace. He has offered us new life through His Son, Jesus Christ. And He has promised us eternal life with Him if we put our faith and trust in Him.

All of those things right there are more than enough to be thankful for 🙂

Yes, we have struggles and trials. Yes, sometimes life can seem harsh and cruel. Yes, sometimes things happen that we wish hadn’t happened. But these apply to everyone, regardless of our status in society, our heritage, etc. None of us are exempt from these things.

And so many times, those very things that we wish we didn’t have to go through will teach us important things that we can use to help others, and can ultimately grow our faith if we don’t let our hearts harden.

So let’s let God show us how to look beyond the things that come against us and we struggle with and show us how to give thanks in everything.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-16

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Nothing can be found if it isn’t searched for diligently and persistently.

Sure, we can stumble onto something once in a while that is worthwhile. But if there’s something that we know is valuable and we really want to find it, we will expend a lot of energy to seek it out.

It’s this way with God. If we seek Him, we will find Him. If we don’t, then we won’t.

There are so many of us who long for a better walk with God… a closer relationship with Him. We see others who seem to have a great relationship with Him and we wish we had that same kind of relationship. We may even envy them.

We’re here to tell you today that we can all have that kind of strong, close relationship with Him. First and foremost, we have to want it. And then we have to go after it.

Nothing comes without work and effort. And this is true with relationships, whether it be with our spouse or with our Creator… our Redeemer. It takes work and deliberate effort to build our relationship with Him.

So, just as we will expend a lot of energy to seek after tangible things, so also we must expend energy to seek after the One who loved us enough to sacrifice His Son for us.

It’s really that simple. If we’re longing for a strong relationship, if we want to know Him intimately, we have to be willing to go after it. We have to be willing to search for Him with all our heart.

Proverbs 8:17 (NKJV) 17 I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.

There are no shortcuts. There are no secret methods. No number of books that we read will make it happen for us. It takes good, old-fashioned hard work and deliberate effort to put it together.

Yes, that might sound discouraging to some. It might make it seem hard to find God and grow close to Him.

But the key to this is to take it one little step at a time, one day at a time. Don’t look too far ahead. Don’t try to look at the big picture and take it in all at once. Look at today, right here and right now.

Do what’s necessary to build that relationship today. Tomorrow, do what is necessary to build it tomorrow. And so on. One day at a time. And before you know it, you will be able to look back and see how far you’ve come!

It takes work. It takes time. And it takes effort.

And He’s worth every bit of it!
