Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-16

Proverbs 15:4 (NKJV) 4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Watching our words at all times is a big part of our walk with God. It’s a daily exercise and we should constantly be aware of what we are saying to others, making sure it is good and wholesome.

Some days it can be really hard. Those are usually the days we wake up and it seems like everything and everyone is pulling on us. We are busy, busy, busy and we have very little time for anything. Our patience and kindness is lost and we feel it. That is a sure sign we need to pull back.

Rest helps us to be alert. But if we neglect it, it can hurt us and trickle down to all those around us.

Resting is very important and it is Biblical. Even God, our CREATOR, took rest on the 7th day.

Genesis 2:2 (NKJV) 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

Good words, good thoughts, good attitude and good performance comes when we are rested.

Is God speaking to our heart today and telling us to take a rest?

Spend some quality time with God in His word, and let Him help us get rejuvenated and back on track. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-29-16

Genesis 1:22 (NKJV) 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

We are children of the Most High God! He has blessed us and commanded us to be fruitful.

He has given to us what we need to be fruitful. We have wisdom, knowledge, understanding, strength and compassion through His Spirit that lives in us. And we take Him wherever we go.

If we are in school, if we have a job, or if we go to church, He comes with us. We take Him to the gym, shopping and out with friends. He goes with us everywhere!

He has blessed us and made us in His image.

Let’s show others what our Daddy is like, as we are forgiving, sensitive, kind, loving, caring, happy and giving to those we encounter and spend time with.

Genesis 1:27 (NKJV) 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-16

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

His word. It’s more than most people, even believers, realize.

His word is life to dead spirits. It quickens them… breathes new life into them.

His word is sustenance for the living. Without it, we would wither and die. But with it, we can live life to the fullest, growing in our relationship with Him and flourishing in it.

God’s word is the light that guides our feet as we walk the path of life. It shows us where to step when it seems like we can’t see anything but darkness in front of us.

His word causes us to rise up when we fall. It gives us new hope where there seems to be none. It lights a flame within us where there was none.

His word is everything we need in life. We can have every possible material thing. We can even claim to follow God. But without His word, we are empty and lifeless.

John 17:17 (NKJV) 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Without His word we will wander, without direction, longing for something, anything, to make us feel alive again.

God’s word is everything. There is nothing that can take its place.

So if you’re feeling empty or lifeless today, don’t reach for your phone. Don’t turn on the TV. Don’t spend time playing another computer or video game.

Don’t reach out to a friend or acquaintance, looking for someone to talk to. Reach for His word.

Drink it in. Devour it. Eat, sleep and breathe His word. Let it revive you, resuscitate you and energize you!

Spend time in His word, learning of God and gaining wisdom and understanding. Do this, and your life will never lack meaning or purpose.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-27-16

Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Even though we may love God with all of our heart, and say we want to do what He wants us to do (and really mean it), we still have that nasty flesh to deal with. It plays with our thoughts, and our emotions and it can cause a war within our own mind at times.

It takes time and persistence to tame that flesh and cause it to be in alignment with God and His plan.

We have moments when we are all for His plan and then there are moments when we just want to throw in the towel and say we have no more energy or strength left. This is normal.

But the bottom line is, we don’t. We don’t walk away. We don’t throw in the towel and we don’t give in to the flesh.

Why? Because we love Him too much and we truly want what He wants.

So keep up the good work. Don’t give up.

Let God’s Spirit dominate!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-26-16

John 21:17 (NKJV) 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.

Do you love me? That’s a pretty powerful question to ask someone. But the reply to Peter’s answer was even more powerful.

When Peter told Jesus that he loved Him (for the third time), Jesus responded simply, by saying “Feed My sheep”.

Some might look at that and scratch their head, wondering what He meant by those three words.

But if we look at it from a spiritual point of view, which is what Jesus intended, we see some pretty significant stuff.

If we love God, we will be concerned with the things He is concerned with.

So many times, we spend our days consumed by things with no spiritual significance. We tend to the natural things in our lives first, and then tend to the things of God “when we have time” to do so.

We live in a natural world, where we can see and touch things. But our lives are driven by spiritual things, in addition to what we can see and touch. And it’s those spiritual things that make our lives what they are.

It’s easy to get caught up in and focused on the things that we can see. Because they’re tangible and visible, they tend to catch our attention more easily than the things we can’t see.

But without spiritual growth through Christ, no amount of natural things will ever satisfy us or improve our lives. So it’s important that we put God first in everything we do. And then, tend to the things of the natural after we tend to our relationship with God.

For without God, all else is meaningless.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-16

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

To walk humbly with your God. Now that is something that each and every one of us should be pursuing.

Walking humbly is the key to growing in our relationship with Him. For with humility, we remain teachable and are willing to admit our failures and shortcomings.

With humility, we listen to those who are wiser than us and learn from the things they share with us.

With humility, we are never too old or too wise to learn something new.

And with humility, we grow to understand that the world doesn’t revolve around us, our wants and desires. But that others are important and deserve our time and attention.

And with humility, we grow to understand that God comes first in everything.

Proverbs 22:4 (NKJV) 4 By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-23-16

2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NKJV) 3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…

We are living in these very days right now. Today. There is no doubt about it.

Living in the last days can be very exciting. We get to see the word of God being lived out before our very eyes. Prophecies from thousands of years ago are coming to life as we watch!

But, living in these days is, for me, a very sad time also. Why? Because we are witnessing the fall of man. Morality is fast decaying and about to crumble completely. Humans are setting themselves up for utter failure.

Sexual immorality is running rampant. Men and women no longer identify themselves as such. They want to choose their gender. Here in the USA, men are being told that it’s OK to use the ladies restrooms, if they feel like that’s what they want to do.

The world is turning upside down, getting further and further from God as each day goes by. It’s happening so quickly!

But, though it’s sad to watch man fall so quickly, it’s also a time to draw close to God and press into Him. It’s the time to walk so closely to Him that we can hear and feel Him breathing. We need to stick so closely that we hear His every heartbeat.

People of God, the time is now. Time to draw near to Him like never before. Time to put Him first and foremost, in every aspect of our lives.

Though the world around us may crumble, we are safe if we stay close to Him. Listen intently for His voice, as He leads us and gives us direction, to navigate these troubled times in which we live.

He is faithful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-16

1Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV) 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Today, I want to take a few minutes and thank God for something that happened last week.

We got a call while eating lunch one day recently. It was my sister. She said to me, “our brother just fell 15 – 20 feet out of a tree and he landed on a stone wall. They are rushing him to RI hospital.”

We all know in this area that if someone goes to RI hospital, it’s a serious situation.

As we raced off to the hospital, the only words that could come out of my mouth were, “Oh God, Oh God, Oh God”.

When we arrived at the hospital, we found him being prepared to have a tube inserted into his side, to drain air and fluid from his chest cavity. He had several broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a liver laceration, and a bruised lung.

I got a text message on my phone during that time from someone that knew nothing about the accident and it read, “sometimes all it takes is just one prayer to change everything”. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

Thankfully, there was no damage to his spine or his brain. Considering his fall and what could have happened, they said he was “very lucky”.

He went into the hospital on a Thursday afternoon, into the Intensive Care Unit of the Trauma Center, and was released that Sunday afternoon. Just 3 short days later.

I wouldn’t call that luck. It was only God and His faithfulness!

My brother is driving now, moving around pretty good and getting things done.

We believe that prayer is so powerful, even if it is just “Oh God”. He knows!!

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing…

Today, take a break and spend it with God. Love on Him and thank Him. Let Him know how much we appreciate Him. And if there is an “Oh God prayer”, let it out. It’s good enough. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – New Video – 4-21-16

We just uploaded our newest video, so we wanted to let you know about it right away.

Today’s video deals with something that we all seem to struggle with in one way or another.

Habits, routines and rituals can sometimes cause us to miss out on some of the things God has for us.

Many times, we can get caught up in doing things the same way, over and over.

We can all learn new ways of letting God work in our lives. Sometimes we just need to change our thinking a bit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-16

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

Comparing our lives with others can cause us to miss things God is doing for us in the state or place that we are currently in.

Maybe we want what others have more than what God has for us, even though He knows what is good for us.

For instance, if we hear of someone getting a pay raise at their job and we think, “boy we could sure use that right about now. Why do they get it and we are sitting here suffering?”. Or someone we know just gets a new house, or new car and we think, “I wish that was me. I’ve been praying for years and I’m still in the same place”.

This is comparing what we have to what someone else has and we have no idea what they went through to get to that point. Maybe they also prayed for years and went through some serious struggles to get there. Only God knows.

Everyone is in a different place. Some are in a season of feast and some are in a season of famine. And some are in between.

It can be very hard if we are in the time of famine and watching others going through the feast season. But know that as we remain content with our own lives and be thankful for what we do have and where we are at, our feast will come as well. Especially if we keep the right attitude.

God brings breakthrough and answered prayers at different times to each one of us, as we trust Him, believe and keep focused with the right attitude.

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

If we struggle with keeping the right attitude, ask God to help. It’s not an easy thing to go through on our own. Being content in some seasons takes work, effort and learning to look at things in a whole new light. It doesn’t necessarily come naturally.

It takes constant trust and accountability to God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-16

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

This is a verse we’ve taught on many times in the past. Today, however, we want to teach on it from a bit different point of view.

We need to put God first in everything we do. And this is how this verse usually gets presented.

But there is another area where we may not be putting God first, so let’s talk about that for a minute.

Prayer. This is an area where we tend to spend time asking God for things we need, want or desire. And there’s nothing wrong with asking God for things. The Bible says in James 4:2 that we have not because we ask not.

But when and how we ask is just as important as the asking itself. Here’s what we mean.

When we talk with God, do we spend more time asking for stuff than we do praising, worshiping and thanking Him for who He is and what He has already done for us? Do we dive right in to all the things we want, and then utter a quick “thank you” before we quit praying and head on our way?

Putting God first in everything also includes in our prayer time. We need to be sure to spend time giving to God before we ask Him to give to us.

No, this isn’t bribery or sweet-talking God. It’s just a matter of giving Him what He deserves!

And as we learn to do this, we will be more likely to experience a more powerful prayer life because we will be focusing more on God and less on ourselves. This will help make us more sensitive to Him. And that’s always a good thing.

So before we start running down our list of wants and needs every time we talk with God, let’s be sure to spend some time giving God the honor and glory He deserves. And let Him do some of the talking too.

After all, what He says is well worth listening to!
