Bible Verse of The Day – 3-8-16

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Did we ever notice how hard it is for us to just let God supply all our needs? It is a hard thing to sit back and let God provide for us. It’s hard for our minds and hearts to accept, at times, that God really wants to help us.

Why is it so hard? Why do we fight God on this? Why can’t we just let Him help?

For some reason, man thinks He has to do it himself. And it is only when we get to a point where we have no way out and we have exhausted all our “KNOWHOW”, that we finally say, “OK God. I need Your help”.

There are some people that never even get to that point, because they simply refuse to admit that they need help. They would rather be mad at the world and miserable to everyone around them, than to give in and let GOD fix it.

Notice that in the beginning of Genesis, God shows us how man struggled with His provision. Take a look at Adam and Eve. They were well provided for. God had it all set for them. All they had to do was obey Him, listen and live. Everything was provided at their fingertips! But there was a weakness, and in their weakness they were tempted, and they fell.

Right from the beginning of time, we have struggled with obeying and accepting God’s provision. We wanted more. We wanted to do it on our own, with nobody telling us anything.

The question is, will we admit it? Will we learn it’s not just Adam and Eve, but all of us who struggle with this in our own personal daily lives?

If we want all that God has for us, we need to face the truth, that at times God is not holding us back or keeping things from us. But we hold back God by not obeying Him and receiving His provision in His way and His timing. How? By trying to do it all on our own.

Let God supply all our needs as we surrender unto Him today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-16

Leviticus 19:4 (NKJV) 4 ‘Do not turn to idols, nor make for yourselves molded gods: I am the Lord your God.

Idols. What are they?

Many things can be idols. People. Hobbies. Cars. Boats. Music. Etc.

And, believe it or not, we can idolize our church and the things that take place there.

Idols don’t have to be something that we physically bow down to. They can also be something that we rely on to lead us into God’s presence, in place of the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus died, the veil in the temple, which separated us from God, was torn. This meant that we would now have direct access to the Father. Priests and sacrifices were now no longer needed.

Unfortunately, we humans have a tendency to create habits and dependencies. And before we know it, we are going backwards. Instead of letting God’s spirit lead us to Him, we start relying on routines.

One of those routines is our weekly church service. Church is good. The local church is where many, many believers gather to worship God each week. And this is good!

The danger comes in when we begin to rely on certain things about that weekly gathering to worship God. Maybe it’s the music. Maybe it’s the lights or the sound system. Maybe it’s the stage performance.

God wants us to come to Him and worship Him, humbly, without having to rely on outside factors or influences to make it happen. Yes, music is good. Yes, corporate worship is good. We just need to be careful that we don’t become dependent on these things to lead us into God’s presence.

And, we need to be extra careful that we don’t let any of these things take the place of God’s presence.

John 4:24 (NKJV) 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

So let’s worship God. Let’s worship Him with all our hearts. And let’s be careful not to let anything get between us and Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-16

Psalm 139:13-14 (NKJV) 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

We are all unique.

God has made each and every one of us special as individuals. We have our own traits, our own thoughts, expressions, movements and so much more. There is nobody else on earth that is exactly like you!

And it’s important that we stay unique individuals, not a copy of someone else.

Throughout our lives, we are exposed to many other people and their ways of doing things. Our parents, our siblings, our friends, and even our spiritual leaders, such as a pastor or mentor, all play a part in shaping us.

Many times we will find ourselves taking on the traits or habits of others, simply because we have been around them so much. They begin to “rub off” on us.

Other times, we begin to emulate people that we like or want to be like. Sometimes this is OK, but many times we lose our God-given identity in order to try to be like someone else.

And in some drastic cases, we can actually begin idolizing our spiritual leaders, if we’re not careful

God wants us to be us. Plain and simple. He doesn’t want us to model ourselves after anyone. It’s OK to learn from others and use what we learn to draw closer to God. But we have to be careful not to simply emulate someone. Being like someone else will never, ever give us a closer walk with God!

So let’s be sure that we are being who God made us to be, and not just imitating or following after someone we know or look up to.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-16

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Sometimes we receive questions from people by email, asking about different subjects and topics.

One question we’ve gotten a few times is whether Jesus came and died for everyone, or was it just for the Jews.

The verse above states very plainly that He came for all humanity. He never made any kind of reference, anywhere, to a specific ethnic group, skin color, etc. “Come to me, all”.

The word “all” is inclusive of everyone. No one is left out!

John 3:16 (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The “world” is all inclusive. It leaves no one out, ever. Amen!

So if you ever doubt that Jesus died for every human being, regardless of who they are or where they’re from, don’t doubt any longer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-3-16

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Walking by faith can change a person. It can show us things inside of us that we probably had never seen before.

It can show us how maybe at times we thought we were walking by faith, but when what we were believing for doesn’t happen the way we thought it would, we realize that maybe we were actually walking in presumption.

This is a hard thing to swallow and can be very humbling. Because what it shows us is that we really weren’t hearing from God, but from our own desire or will.

We have all been here at one time or another and the best way to fix it is to humble ourselves before God and ask Him to show us His plan, without letting our own thoughts, desires and anxieties get in the way.

He will show us and help us fix whatever mess we get into as we humbly come to Him and admit we need His help.

Psalm 30:10 (NKJV) 10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper!”

Walking by faith takes time, experiencing and learning. We are not going to be perfect at it, but as we remain teachable, we will learn.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-2-16

Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV) 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel…

God’s word has a lot to say when it comes to wisdom.

We’re encouraged to gain wisdom, listen to those with wisdom and heed words of wisdom.

When we’re young, we can be foolish and ignorant in so many ways. We can make a lot of mistakes as we try to find our way through situations we encounter.

It pays for us to seek the advice and counsel of those who are older than us and who have walked through many things in life. Experience has taught them a lot and we can learn much from them.

This is also true when it comes to learning new things, no matter how old or young we are. We can be advanced in our years and still lack knowledge and understanding In many things.

But if we follow God’s advice and seek counsel, we can continue to learn and gain understanding in new areas. And when we do this, it allows us to make choices that are sound.

And this can save us a lot of heartache, headaches and frustration in our lives.

So we encourage you to seek counsel when you need it. Asking questions of people who are more experienced is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, it’s the smart thing to do.

Proverbs 19:20 (NKJV) 20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-1-16

Psalm 120:1 (NKJV) 1 In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me.

Crying out to God isn’t difficult. It’s just a matter of opening our mouths and our hearts and sharing with Him what we are going through each day. Sharing with Him those things that concern us, and asking Him to give us direction, guidance and faith to walk through it all.

I don’t know what I would do without Him. Life would be a very hard place for me if I was alone and had to work everything out by myself.

God does not want us to go through life without Him. No matter where we live in this world, no matter what we are going through, no matter how strong or weak we are, He is there for each one of us.

Put your trust and faith in Him today. Cry out and let Him know how you feel. He will hear us, He will help us and He will bring us through. Amen.
