Bible Verse of The Day – 2-17-16

Proverbs 22:7 (NKJV) 7 The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.

Are we a borrower? Do we have debts to others?

The world today runs on the principle of debt and borrowing. And it’s not a good thing.

Debt is a form of modern slavery. The borrower is subject to the lender, just as the verse above states clearly. When we owe people money, we are beholden to them until the debt is paid in full.

Debt is very costly. Things paid for using debt cost many times more than if we bought them with cash.

And debt, if not managed properly, can become a trap that’s hard to get out of.

Debt can become stressful and can even affect our walk with God, as we struggle to make ends meet and get distracted by the pressures of failing finances. It can also alter our giving habits when we become financially over-extended.

We want to encourage you today, that if you’re in debt, take whatever steps are necessary to get out. Break the chains of debt and leave them behind you.

It’s not an easy thing to do, but it’s worth every bit of effort required.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-16

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

We can get sidetracked pretty easily sometimes. When this happens, we can even lose sight of the thoughts that God has toward us. Today is a little reminder of how He thinks toward us all.

The devil would love for us to think that we are not included in this verse, maybe because we have done many things wrong against God.

But, the truth is that our name is in this verse. We have all done things wrong at one time or another and God gives us a chance to fix things. God truly loves us and wants the best future for us.

Matthew 18:22 (NKJV) 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

We serve a GRACIOUS Father. It’s not too late for us to give Him first place. We have to want to. We have to reach a point in our walk where we are sick and tired of the wrong things we do and want to do what’s right. We have to hate the sin and love God and righteous living MORE than we love the sin.

Are we there yet? Are we willing to hate that which pushes us away from our loving Father?

Only we can answer that question. And only then can we take the steps to get close to Him and let Him help us have the future He wants to give us.

If we are alive and breathing then it is NOT too late. And yes, the offer still stands, no matter how far we have fallen, but we have to be willing to CHANGE.

Today is a new day and a fresh start.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-15-16

1 Corinthians 13:11 (NKJV) 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Children see things through eyes of innocence, ignorance and simplicity. They don’t have the experience of life’s circumstances to help them make wise choices. They are unlearned in many things.

Because of this, they can make some terrible choices and do some pretty foolish things. And their behavior isn’t always what it should be. Sometimes they can be downright unruly and hard to be around.

So it is, also, with some adults. Sometimes we tend to resist learning certain things. We don’t want anyone to tell us anything that will require us to change our thinking or the way we do things.

And so we stay ignorant and immature in some areas of our lives. And our ignorance hurts us and those around us.

Hebrews 5:12 (NKJV) 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

The writer of Hebrews was pretty adamant about the fact that believers, followers of Christ, should not remain ignorant and immature. But should be growing and becoming spiritual adults.

As with children in the natural, growth is implied, the moment they are born. It’s silly to think that they can stay small in stature and in their minds. It is understood that they will grow and mature as they get older.

As believers, growth is also implied, from the moment we put our faith and trust in Christ. We need to always be learning and growing. We need to be seeking and learning. And we need to look to those who are more mature and wiser than us for our understanding and knowledge.

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is dangerous.

Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

Let’s not be children. Let’s be strong, mature men and women of God who follow God closely, make wise decisions and sound choices.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-13-16

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV) 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

Do we receive our diploma if we drop out of school and never take the final exam? If we are in a race and we give up before we reach the finish line, do we still receive a medal? Of course not.

We must always finish what we start and give it our all, or there is no prize and no reward.

Some people think that they can go on this journey with Christ and when things get hard, temptation comes, tiredness sets in, boredom or whatever else may try to come, they can just back out.

That is not how we obtain the prize.

We run in this race with all that we have and if what we have isn’t enough, we ask Him to help us with the rest.

There is no giving up or pulling out. If we want to obtain our prize, we have to hang in there and push through. We are in it for the long haul.

We will reach the finish line if we don’t give up! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-12-16

John 4:50 (NKJV) 50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.

Jesus spoke His WORD to this man and the man took Him at it and BELIEVED Him.

This man implored Jesus, meaning he made a very serious or emotional request to Him.

How serious are we when it comes to getting Jesus’ help? Are we STILL trying to fix things on our own and then blaming Him because nothing has changed?

This is huge, because in this verse there is a need. The man’s son needs healing or he will die.

John 4:47 (NKJV) 47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

It is a life-threatening need.

What are we going through today? Maybe we are facing a life-threatening situation as well. Maybe with ourselves, or a loved one? Maybe our marriage is falling apart, or our relationship with our children needs help, etc. Maybe we are up against something very hard and we need His WORD for our situation.

But, it doesn’t stop there, we can not just get a word and that’s it. We have to do what this man did and believe. We have to believe HIS word, BEFORE we see the results.

Here it is…The man did not know his son was healed, but he believed Jesus’ word. It was after, when he arrived home that they told him.

John 4:52 (NKJV) 52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”

The same hour that he believed!!

John 4:53 (NKJV) 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.

Some of us are on the fence, waiting to SEE the results before we completely believe. It’s not going to happen that way. Believing comes first.

First, we need to make a very serious request for Jesus’ word for our situation. Very serious; that means even if we don’t like what we know or hear, we must submit to it and follow it out. Second, believe that it will be done according to His word and what He shows us, even before we see the results.

If we want His results, we must hear it and believe it!

May His healing be upon you, your life, your situation and all that you are dealing with today. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-11-16

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

This verse is one of my favorites from the entire word of God.

Why? Because it lays to rest any doubts whatsoever as to who Jesus is.

It silences critics who say He was just a prophet. It closes the mouth of anyone who says Jesus was just a man, a Rabbi, a teacher or anything else.

Jesus is the one and only way to the Father. End of story.

There are not 10 different ways to the Father. There are not 6 ways to the Father. There are not even two ways to the Father. There is One Way. And that Way is Jesus, the Christ. The Messiah. The Lamb of God

Matthew 1:23 (NKJV) 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

Jesus was God with us. God, incarnate, in the flesh, walking among men and women.

So if you have ever questioned or doubted as to whether some of the things you hear about how many ways there are to get to the Father, please let this one, single verse lay all doubts to rest and put your mind at ease.

One Way. Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-16

John 4:16-18 (NKJV) 16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

This woman spoke the truth when Jesus spoke to her. The closer we get to Jesus, the more His light shines on those areas within us that may need some attention.

We can’t pretend that everything is alright when deep down we have some things that need to be brought out into the light.

We may have been hurt in the past when we tried to share things with people, but don’t let the hurt we have received from people stop us from sharing the things we need to share with God. The way people treat us at times is different than the way God will respond when we open up and share the truth with Him.

He did not send His Son to condemn us, but to save us. And that is the very heart of God; to SAVE us from our sin!

Open up today and share those things with Him that may be hidden and painful. He will bring healing and strength, and He will uphold us. Amen.

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-9-16

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing,

We don’t have to have a certain place where we go to pray. We can pray right where we are at.

Sometimes all it is is listening; Being quiet long enough to let His Spirit speak, no matter where we are. We can do that anywhere, any place, at any time.

We may be somewhere out and about and He may put someone or something on our hearts right then and there. We don’t have to wait until we get home to pray or until we go to church on Sunday or Wednesday, etc.

We may be standing in line at the grocery store when God decides to speak to our heart about a situation. Right then and there we can pray, silently to ourselves, lifting it up and being in agreement with Him.

We may be awakened sometimes at night when God wants us to pray for something specific. It’s important we don’t just blow it off. Pray for what He shows us and then we can go back to sleep. It’s as simple as that.

Prayer isn’t complicated. We just need to pray as the Holy Spirit leads us, as we continue in our daily things.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-16

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

We all want things to happen in our lives. We have desires, hopes and dreams.

So many of us spend many years of our lives chasing those dreams, hoping they will come true. And so many times we hear it said that God wants our hopes and dreams to come true. And that He will give us the desires of our heart. He does. And He will.

But so often, years go by and we feel empty and unfulfilled. We keep chasing those dreams, but to no avail.

Why?

There’s a secret to making sure God gives us the desires of our heart. It isn’t some kind of magic prayer or a special type of fasting.

It isn’t about attending the right church or singing the right praise and worship songs. And it isn’t about giving the right amounts of money.

It’s all about our hearts.

As we seek God, truly seek Him, and build a relationship with Him, the desires of our hearts will begin to change. We will begin to long after the things that God wants in our lives, not just the worldly things that we used to chase after.

And as this happens, we will begin to see things fall into place for us. And we will have the desires of our hearts. We will have the things that please us. And those things will also please God.

Now, this doesn’t mean that God won’t give us other types of desires, but as we continue to keep Him first in our lives, some of those other things will also unfold for us.

The key is to remember that God is not the means to an end. He is the end. He is who we should be seeking after continually.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-16

Exodus 16:4 (NKJV) 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you.

God provided for Moses and the Israelites, bread from Heaven. They were being fed directly from Heaven. How Awesome is this?

God delivered them out of Egypt and He didn’t leave them on their own to fend for themselves. He wanted to continue to care for them. He wanted them to know He was there for them.

God is willing to care for each one of us. He is willing to provide for us. We have to let Him.

It’s going to take us being OK with not always “knowing” how it will happen. It will require us to be patient and willing to take steps, doing things a little differently than what we’re used to doing.

When we serve an AWESOME and MIGHTY God and we let Him have the reins of our life, get ready for some excitement!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-16

Philippians 2:14-15 (NKJV) 14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world…

There’s no doubt that we live in a crooked world, where good seems to be overtaken by evil.

People look to take care of themselves and push the needs of others to the side in an effort to make sure they get what they want. And they complain so much!

Complaining seems to be a popular thing to do these days. People will complain about just about anything. And if we’re not careful we can get caught up in it and follow them right down the same crooked path.

Don’t do it!

As children of God, followers of Christ, we can’t allow ourselves to fall into the trap of becoming complainers. It can happen easily, and the next thing we know, we catch ourselves sounding just like everyone else.

Here’s what God’s word says about it.

Jude 1:16 (NKJV) 16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.

And here’s what He tells us to do instead!

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

And that will cure our complaining problem!
