Bible Verse of The Day – 9-17-15

Galatians 6:7 (NKJV) 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Sowing. It’s a word that farmers are intimately familiar with.

Farmers know that if they don’t sow, they won’t reap their harvest. It’s just a basic principle that will never change.

If they expect to reap, they know that they must spend the time and effort sowing. And they know that whatever they sow, that they will also reap. If they sow corn, they will reap corn. If they sow soybeans, they will reap soybeans.

And so it is with us, even if we’re not farmers or don’t grow our own fruits or vegetables. Whatever we sow in life, we will also reap.

If we sow joy, we reap joy. If we sow kindness, we will reap kindness. If we sow finances, we will reap finances And so it goes with everything.

So many of us are looking to reap a financial harvest. But are we sowing finances? Or are we just secretly hoping that God will drop a bag of money into our laps? So often we fail to understand that we will get what we give. Yet we walk around expecting to find a bag of cash laying somewhere that we can use to pay all of our bills.

Sowing is a necessity if we expect to reap! It’s something that we can’t change and we need to understand if we ever hope to grow in our lives, not just financially, but in every way.

And to disarm any critics, please understand that this is not a prosperity message. It’s a word of truth that the body of Christ needs to understand if we are ever going to climb out of our financial holes and get free from the chains of debt and poverty!

If we are constantly in a state of lack and always looking for that next dollar (or whatever currency your country uses), maybe we need to take a look at our giving and see if it measures up, or if it even exists at all.

If we’re saying that we don’t give because we can’t afford to, we need to realize that we can’t afford not to give!

There is so much more that could be shared on this topic, but we don’t want this to be too lengthy.

So, please, let’s do ourselves a huge favor and sincerely ask God if we’re sowing enough, or if we’re even sowing at all. Because once we get this right, so many other things in our lives will start to fall into place for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-16-15

Proverbs 15:27 (NKJV) 27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.

Greed is a terrible thing that can wreak havoc on the lives of those who are consumed by it.

Greed can cause people to make some really bad choices because it is a byproduct of pride. And we all know how God feels about pride.

Greed can sneak in a little at a time, and if we don’t recognize it and deal with it, it can cause us to lose everything we have. It can even cost us our relationships with those who are dear to us.

Greed can take on many forms; insensitivity to those who are in need, a constant drive to make more money and have more possessions, a desire to have nicer things than your friends and neighbors, and many others.

Sometimes it can be subtle enough that we don’t see it until it has grown into a monster that is ready to swallow us.

1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV) 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

We can’t let greed be a part of our lives; not even a little, tiny part. Let’s kick greed out of our hearts and out of our homes, in the name of Jesus!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-15-15

2 Samuel 22:4 (NKJV) 4 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Do we need saving today? Are we feeling trapped, don’t know which way to turn?

Are we feeling pressured to make a decision that we’re not ready to make?

Call upon the Lord today.

Don’t try to make this decision on our own. He will give us the answer and the peace to do what we need to do. He will save us from our enemy.

Trust and give Him praise! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-14-15

Isaiah 14:14 (NKJV) 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’

What would cause someone to ever dream of saying something like this? How could anyone ever want to or think that they could ascend above God and make themselves like Him?

One word; pride.

Pride is one of the most destructive things that we can deal with as human beings.

Most sin is the result of pride. We don’t want to humble ourselves under the hand of God or submit to people in leadership over us. So we do whatever we feel like doing.

Pride will cause us to make some crazy decisions and it will never, ever lead us to anything good.

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Lucifer was at the throne of God, serving Him as a head angel. Yet, in his pride, he thought he could rise above God and be like Him. He even managed to convince a third of the angels that he could do this.

The end result wasn’t good.

Pride can be very subtle and sneaky. It won’t always rear its ugly head in obvious ways, like it did with lucifer. Most times it’s so sneaky that we don’t see it creeping in until it’s done serious damage.

But it’s never too late to change. It’s never too late to repent, humble ourselves and ask God to help us to get back on the right track. And it’s never too late to make things right and learn from our experiences.

Today, let’s ask God to show us where we might have become prideful. Even in the littlest of ways. Let’s repent and let Him help us to get rid of that haughty attitude and proud spirit, before it does more damage in our lives and the lives of those around us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-12-15

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

We have an adversary… an enemy, the devil.

He has one purpose; to wreak havoc on us and do as much damage as possible in our lives.

That might seem like pretty heavy duty stuff. And it is!

But we don’t have to be a victim of this adversary. Why? Because God has equipped us to be able to thwart his attacks.

The enemy will try to attack us from many different angles. Some attacks will come in a general sort of way. While other attacks will come as temptations.

When it comes to those general attacks, we can pray for God’s protection over our homes and our families, so that when attacks do come the damage is minimal or nonexistent.

When it comes to personal attacks, where we are tempted by the enemy, God has instructed us specifically about this and how to handle it. It’s not complicated.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

This might seem over-simplified, but it’s really not. God gave us free will. And we have the freedom to choose what we do on a daily basis, from one minute to the next.

So the next time the enemy comes knocking on our door, dangling a temptation in front of us, we don’t need to get hot and sweaty, anxious or antsy.

We simply need to tell him “no” and then turn and walk away from the temptation. And as we do this more and more, it will get easier and easier for us.

Soon, we will be a pro at resisting his attacks.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-11-15

Philippians 4:4(NKJV) 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

Life is a beautiful thing. God formed us and breathed life into us so that we can “LIVE” and enjoy Him and the life He has given to us.

Just the other day I took a few minutes out of my busy day and met my daughter and granddaughter at the beach. I was swimming in the water with my granddaughter and as we were both holding onto the boogie board, we were going over the tops of the waves.

We were laughing and having a good time!! She looked up at me with her big blue eyes and said, “Grandmommy, I love you.” I smiled down at her and told her how much I loved her too, and we continued to enjoy our time together.

Those simple, but yet so powerful moments shape us and those around us. Those little words from a little 6 year old girl touched me so deeply.

God has been showing me daily to slow down and pay attention to these little things and to be thankful.

I rejoice in Him today for the life He has given me; it is precious!!

Take some time today and ponder on those little things and rejoice in the Lord, for He has blessed us tremendously!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-10-15

Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NKJV) 8 The end of a thing is better than its beginning; The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Sometimes we can make a mess of things.

We make poor choices and get ourselves into trouble. And so many times, the problems that we create can have long-lasting implications. They don’t go away instantly, just because we want them to.

As we lean on God and look to Him for answers, we need to be patient and wait on Him. It’s pretty easy to get antsy and want to try to make things happen ourselves. It’s human nature to want to fix everything based on our own understanding.

But God doesn’t usually work based on our understanding!

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

The most important thing we can do when we get into trouble is to go to Him and seek His help, and then wait on Him for the answer. Making moves on our own because we think it will alleviate things quickly will almost always get us into deeper trouble.

Remember; the trouble we’re having most likely didn’t happen overnight, so we shouldn’t expect a solution that will work overnight either.

Let’s be patient, wait on God and trust Him to bring the answer we need!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-9-15

Mark 1:35 (NKJV) 35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Nobody wants to get up before daylight, nobody. But it is crucial at times that we push ourselves to do it.

Jesus got up early and He went to a solitary place and what did He do in that place? Sleep? Work? Watch videos? No, He prayed, early in the morning before daylight.

Why? Prayer is what stops the devil in his tracks. Prayer is what starts our day off on the right track. Prayer is what gets us answers.

Are we done with suffering? Have we had enough of being bullied around by the enemy? If we can say yes, then we are ready to end this chapter and start a new one.

Prayer will win those battles for us, so get up! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-8-15

Luke 13:11 (NKJV) 11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.

We’d like to follow up on yesterday’s message in an effort to clarify a couple of things.

The Bible has many examples of various types of evil spirits in operation.

Lying spirits and spirits of infirmity are just two examples of spirits that were named specifically. Today we want to talk briefly about spirits of infirmity.

It’s important for us, as believers, to understand that many illnesses, especially those where medical doctors claim there is no known cure, and those that last for many, many years, are not physical in nature.

They have physical symptoms, but these physical symptoms are just outward manifestations of an inward spiritual presence. Simply put, they are caused by evil spirits of infirmity.

This doesn’t mean that a person who is inflicted with a spirit of infirmity is possessed. It simply means that this particular spirit has caused them to become sick or lame, and no amount of medical knowledge will fix it.

Yes, some medications might make it slightly better, or help a person “manage” their condition. But if the root of these problems is spiritual, a physical “cure” won’t fix the problem.

Jesus taught his disciples to cast out demons, spirits of infirmity, because He knew that it was what was needed to rid these people of their conditions. This is exactly what took place in my own life, when I was healed and delivered from asthma over 20 years ago.

Doctors didn’t know how to cure it. But God did! And did He ever fix it.

God is still in the healing business, even 2000 plus years after Jesus walked the earth.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-7-15

Matthew 4:23 (NKJV) 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.

I remember the day my husband was healed. It was a Thursday evening and there was a man of God speaking that night who had prayed for many people all over the world who had received healing. He taught us about how the devil can cause a lot of sickness, but that there is deliverance through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It was that night that he was delivered from asthma as he received God’s knowledge of deliverance! Praise be to God!!

Most churches don’t teach on healing or deliverance, and many Christian people are entrapped by the devil’s lies because they never hear the truth. They are living their lives as if they are obligated to carry their infirmities and they are destined to live the rest of their lives with sickness or disease of some type.

Know today, right now, that there is deliverance for you! There is healing and deliverance for your child, your spouse and your family member, through the blood of Jesus Christ. We don’t have to leave this earth with sickness and disease!

Push back the darkness that is causing you or others you know to suffer.

Mark 1:34 (NKJV) 34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

Do not let the devil speak to you and tell lies! And if he does speak, shut him up.

How? By rebuking him in the name of Jesus Christ. Declare his attack against your situation NULL and VOID, in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ. And believe Jesus for healing and deliverance today! Amen.

Mark 9:23 (NKJV) 23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

God has set you free. Believe it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-5-15

Ecclesiastes 1:1 (NKJV) 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

So many of us work very hard. We spend hours and hours each day in our respective careers or jobs.

We buy new homes, new cars, new this or that. It can become a never-ending cycle that we seem to get sucked into, with no end in sight.

Case in point: Televisions used to be a luxury. If a family bought a TV, they would buy something modest, that they could afford and they would keep it until it no longer worked.

Nowadays, it’s not uncommon for people to buy a TV that’s very large and then add a home theater sound system to it, to emulate being in the movie theater. When everything is said and done, these setups can cost many, many hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

And sadly, many people buy these types of setups on credit because they can’t afford to pay cash for them. And they pay on them for many, many months before they actually own them. And by then, the TV is now outdated and the cycle goes on and on.

This is just one example of how far off track the world has gotten and how vanity has swept so many off their feet and sucked them into a cycle of working and spending.

And when everything is said and done, the things that we chase, the money that we work our lives away for, is worth nothing when compared to eternity.

Yes, we need to work! And yes, having a TV, a nice car or some other item is OK. But when we get caught up in always having to buy the latest and greatest of everything, then we are chasing after the wind.

We can work our lives away to obtain stuff, and yet when our lives are over, that stuff won’t matter a single bit.

It’s how we handled our relationship with God and what we do for others that matters in the long run.

I will admit that this message didn’t take on the direction that I thought it would when I sat down to write it. But maybe it’s what we all need to hear in order to see some things.

Let’s not be a people of vanity, grasping at things and chasing after the wind.
