Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-15

1 Corinthians 13:2 (NKJV) 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

In the verses above, Paul is letting us know how important it is to walk in love, and that having gifts, understanding, knowledge and faith means nothing if we don’t have love. Love should always be what motivates us to do what we do.

We can’t just do things out of habit, out of routine, or ritual. When we do things for Christ, it should be from our hearts.

Doing things out of love is what makes all the difference in the world. It is what moved Jesus and it should be what moves us.

Ephesians 5:2(NKJV) 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Let love guide us in our actions, our deeds, and in our prayers.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-29-15

Matthew 18:3 (NKJV) 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

We hear a lot about childlike faith, or having faith like a child, but neither of those phrases are ever actually used in God’s word.

Despite that fact, Jesus made it very clear that we need to have faith like a child if we hope to enter heaven and spend eternity with Him and the Father.

So what does it mean to have faith like a child? How can that be defined or better-understood by us, His followers?

Here’s an excellent example that most people will be able to relate to, especially parents of small children.

When a child is very small, but old enough to begin understanding and building trust in people, they begin to exhibit faith in their parents, trusting them unconditionally, knowing that if they are in danger, mom or dad will help them or rescue them.

Picture a child of 3 years old standing on the steps of their home. They see daddy coming toward them so they yell out “daddy, catch me”, and they jump toward daddy.

They don’t stop to think about whether their father will actually catch them or not. The fact that he might not catch them never enters their mind. They just know that this is their dad and that’s what dads do; they catch their kids when they jump!

And so it is with our Father. He wants us to trust Him just like that child trusts their father to catch them.

No, this doesn’t mean that we should start making crazy, irresponsible decisions and expecting God to stop us from doing something foolish. But it does mean that we need to let God teach us how to trust Him, like a child trusts their earthly father and mother when they are very young.

It might take some time for this to happen, but as we let Him lead us and we press in to Him, it will happen, a little at a time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-15

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV) 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Know that the time we spend helping others, praying for others, encouraging others, sharing God’s love with others, it is NOT in vain.

There may be days when we might feel like someone is pulling on us for whatever reason, and at the same time, we may have things of our own pressing on us; things that we need to tend to and take care of. But as we take our needs and put them aside to help someone else, that effort is not in vain.

God watches the things we do for others. He sees when we make a sacrifice and put aside our own wants and needs to help someone else.

Keep going. Keep helping. Keep loving, sharing and keep praying! You, my friend, are making a difference in this world and it is not in vain.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-15

Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) 6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change…

The world is a constantly changing place. Nothing stays the same for very long. And even when it seems like things are steady for a while, along comes something to change it up.

Sometimes it can make it seem like there is nothing stable or steady.

In reality, there is nothing in this world that’s stable. The economy, governments, relationships, careers, finances and so many other things change in a second. It can make our life seem like it’s on pretty shaky ground sometimes.

But that’s where God comes in. You see, He never changes. Ever.

People may come and go. Jobs may last a while and then disappear. Our finances will see peaks and valleys. Governments will change. And people will come in and out of our lives.

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

So amidst all the of the change and turmoil, we never have to worry about God up and leaving us. He is the one constant that we can always count on being there for us.

So if your life seems like it’s been turned upside down, remember that there is One who will never leave you or forsake you. He will be by your side, no matter what you go through.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV) 8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-15

Exodus 20:7(NKJV) 7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

Some may say “well, I only say it when I’m upset. It slips out”.

It doesn’t matter if we are angry, hurt, or upset, there is no excuse for it.

Some people may think saying the Lord’s name in vain is less of a swear or less of a sin than saying supposedly worse vulgar words.

Some may have been raised with it being said in the home and never realized the danger of it.

But taking the Lord’s name in vain is very serious to Him and He will not hold us guiltless. If He does not hold us guiltless, it means He is going to hold us accountable.

If this is something that you struggle with, and never realized the seriousness of it, take some time today and ask God for forgiveness and make a serious effort to never use His name in vain again.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-24-15

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV) 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Loving God is the most important thing we will ever do in our lifetime here on earth.

Some people might disagree and say that helping others is the most important thing.

Others might say that raising our children properly is the most important thing.

Still others might say that there is something else that’s most important.

But here’s the thing. If we love God with all our heart, all our soul and all our strength, doing the other things will come naturally. Our love for God will spill over into everything else we do.

In addition to spilling over into all of those things, loving God with all our heart will also change the path of our lives. Why and how can this be possible?

Because when we love God first, we will make decisions differently. When we love God first, we won’t always be thinking of ourselves.

When we love God first, every single thing we do will be done based on how God would look at it… whether He would approve of it or not.

That’s why it’s so important to love God with all our heart, our soul and strength. It truly is life-altering!

And if you’re wondering what God’s plan and purpose are for your life, love Him first! When you do this, and your life begins to change, what God has for you to do will unfold right in front of your eyes, with no fanangling or fancy footwork required on your part.

And when it does unfold, it will feel as natural as waking up every morning.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-23-15

Acts 19:13-16 (NKJV) 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” 16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

There is a valuable lesson here for all of us to learn.

Not everyone who names the name of Jesus is one of His followers. Not everyone who stands up and preaches or teaches is a true man or woman of God.

The world, and even some churches, are full of people who will talk the talk but never walk the walk. And this happens for one reason; they don’t know Jesus. Oh, they know about Jesus. They know who He is. But they don’t know Him.

And these types of people are very dangerous to the body of Christ. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing, leading people away from God, instead of closer to Him.

Matthew 7:15 (NKJV) 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

And what’s even more sad is the fact that some of them don’t even know they’re off track. They say all the right things and go through the motions to the point where they have even convinced themselves that they are moving by the spirit of God. But they’re not.

Matthew 7:21-23 (NKJV) 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!

Being on TV doesn’t make someone legitimate. Being in the pulpit of a local church doesn’t make them legitimate. Speaking the name of Jesus doesn’t make them legitimate. Having a mega-church with thousands of members doesn’t make them legitimate.

Only the blood of Jesus and a humble heart can make any of us true followers of Christ.

As we’ve said many times, we need to be vigilant and diligent when it comes to who we listen to and who we follow!

But, it’s not all bad! There are some very sincere people of God who have a heart after Him. They love Him and His people, and they love helping people grow closer to Him in everything they do.

God’s word is our measuring stick. We need to use it to discern the words spoken to us by anyone claiming to be a man or woman of God. And when we do this, our eyes will be opened and we will see the truth and we will know the wolves from the sheep.

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-15

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Are you tired? Are the worries and cares of life dragging you down?

How about sin? Are you caught up in sin that’s causing you to feel guilty or condemned?

We all have things that we wrestle with. Sometimes it might be financial burdens. Sometimes it might be things that we’re tempted by.

Sometimes we don’t even know why we’re feeling worn out. We just know that we’re tired and it feels like we’re about to collapse.

Jesus said He came to give us rest. Will you trust Him? Will you take those burdens and place them at His feet?

We often teach people that our sins and our cares can be like an invisible backpack that we carry around. Every time we mess up, a new rock gets placed in that backpack. Every time we doubt God or feel condemned by the enemy, another rock gets tossed into that backpack. Anger, bitterness and unforgiveness can also put more rocks in there too.

Before we know it, we’re carrying around a lot of extra weight that we were not meant to carry. And it wears us out.

So, today, let’s take that backpack off and lay it at the feet of Jesus and leave it there. Permanently.

Come to Jesus, all you who are tired and burdened down. He will give you rest.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-15

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Do we have those days where we just want to run away from everything, everybody and all our responsibilities? Or maybe even move somewhere and start over, make new friends and get a new job and live in a brand new place. Just start over!

I think we all feel like this from time to time. We Just get tired of the same ole, same ole thing. We get tired of the fight it takes every day to keep things going, to keep people happy and to keep our heads above water.

Sometimes we don’t even know what needs to change. We just know that something needs to change, that we are not getting ahead and we can’t keep doing the same things any longer.

When we get to this point, it can cause us to get anxious. What does it mean to be anxious?

It means we’re afraid or nervous, especially about what may happen. We feel anxiety – Causing or showing fear or nervousness: wanting or eager to do or have something very much especially because of fear or nervousness.

We need to be reminded of this verse, and that God tells us to be anxious for nothing. That means nothing, not even for change.

It’s good when we know we need to make a change and we are more than willing to do it, but the balance to it is not to be afraid or nervous or anxious for the change to come.

Instead, embrace it, wait prayerfully and thankfully for God’s direction.

This is where we can get into trouble, if we let fear and nervousness dominate the situation. If we are not careful, we will open doors that God never intended for us to have opened or to walk through. Anxiousness can cause us to get ahead of God or outside of His will for us.

Many people are in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing today because of being anxious or being afraid. Maybe the change that needs to come is learning how to wait in the way He tells us to.

Psalm 27:14(NKJV) 14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-15

Matthew 8:13 (NKJV) 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.

Are we believing today for a healing, a miracle or deliverance?

Or are we waiting, and questioning to see how it’s done or if it even still works in this day and age?

Let us reassure you that it is still here today. You may say “for who, and how do we find it? Where do we go to get it?”

Healing is for those who BELIEVE!

This doesn’t have to be done by going to a special “HEALING” service. It doesn’t have to be done by having some special Pastor, Minister, Priest or Evangelist be present. We don’t have to drop money in a bucket and pay for this.

Jesus Christ, the Son of the Almighty God, Jehovah, has paid the price for our healing, our miracle, and our deliverance, when He was beaten, bruised and hung on that cross for you and me. It is finished!

Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV) 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

The only requirement is that we believe in Jesus Christ and that He can and will heal us. That’s it!

If God is touching your heart today, you’ve needed healing for a while now, you’ve been waiting patiently and you’ve been believing, let yourself receive it today.

We don’t have to do anything other than believe Him for it, so let it be done for you. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-18-15

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

These are very sound words of advice for every single one of us.

Many lives are changed forever by words spoken hastily or in anger.

Angry words, or words spoken without thinking about them first, can do irreparable damage to relationships and to the hearts of those we love.

Yes, those words can be forgiven, but they can never be taken back. Once words are spoken, they remain forever in the ears, the mind and the heart of the one they were spoken to.

When situations arise where there is tension, and discussions become heated, how very important it is that we take our time before speaking.

When something pops into our mind to say, we need to let the Holy Spirit filter it and be sure that it’s what He wants us to speak, not what we want to say because our emotions are running high.

So, first off, if we have spoken out of anger to anyone and caused them to be hurt, we need to drop our pride and go to them, and apologize, asking them to forgive us. It doesn’t matter what they might have said that hurt us. We need to hold ourselves accountable to God.

How the other person handles it is between them and God, not between them and us.

And once we have apologized to the people we have hurt, we need to ask God to help us in this area, so we don’t fall prey to this again and hurt others.

Listen; be swift to hear. Think; be slow to speak. Stay calm; be slow to anger.
