Bible Verse of The Day – 7-31-14

Ecclesiastes 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.

Every day we see and hear more and more about the evil that’s pervading the world we live in. Some days it can be downright discouraging if we let it be.

If we’re not careful, we can become very cynical and negative and we can even begin to question God as to why He allows evil people to continue doing what they do.

How many times have we maybe thought “why do you continue to let them live, God, while they’re spreading such evil and doing such harm to people?”.

This is a common thing. Many people ask this question.

But we need to let God be God and let Him worry about such things. They are not ours to be concerned with.

All we need to know is that if we fear God, all will be well with us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-14

(Psalm 30:12 NKJV) To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Being thankful is something we have to be conscious of every day. Have you ever gotten preoccupied with something that you are determined to get done, that you almost forgot about all the other things going on around you? This is something that is very easy to do.

I have to make myself stop, first thing when I wake up. Instead of jumping out of bed and running right downstairs to get my cup of tea, I force myself to take a few minutes and thank God for His goodness.

Sometimes throughout the day I have to force myself to sit for a moment and look around and breathe the fresh air and think. I don’t think about what’s for dinner, I don’t think about work, I don’t think about playtime, I don’t think about tomorrow or next week.

I stop and think about all the good things that are around me, and I begin to speak them out to God and thank Him for them. Most importantly, I thank God for Him and His love, His compassion, forgiveness, and His Salvation.

I think of all the family He has brought me. Some are blood family and some are not blood related, but might as well be. I think of how thankful I am for good friends that are so wonderful to me.

The world, in and of itself, is so beautiful, and it’s all for us to enjoy! I’m not talking about movies, restaurants, cruises or vacations, although they are good and fun too. Those things are pricey and we can’t always afford to do those things. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy life. So many wonderful things are free to enjoy, every single day!

Sometimes I just sit outside and look up at the stars and the sky itself. What a sight! I love to listen to the sea and the ocean; such beautiful sounds of the streams, or crashing of a wave.

The birds and their sounds are amazing, if you really listen to them closely. Oh, the sunset and the sunrise every one of them is so breathtaking.

Not to mention the flowers; they are all so different and unique, with lovely aromas.

And there are my grandchildren’s little voices and the pleasure of watching them grow up!

Oh I could go on and on… it’s ALL so good!

Give thanks to Him today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-14

Matthew 5:27-28 (NKJV) 27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery’.28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Lust has been around since man began to populate the earth. It’s not anything new.

But I dare to say that lust is a much bigger problem these days than it was even 100 years ago. Changing trends in society have created a healthier environment for lust to breed in.

Computer technology has made it easier for immoral material to be distributed and propagated.

Fashions have changed drastically, creating new ways for members of both genders to display their flesh for the opposite sex to see and lust after outside of the privacy of our homes.

It has become hard to go into public places without seeing people with their private body parts partially or even near-fully exposed, parading around like there’s nothing wrong. Even the clothing itself leaves little to the imagination.

This presents a two-fold problem for believers. First, seeing people in this state of dress can make it very easy to lust after someone. So we need to be careful to train ourselves not to have wandering eyes, looking at things that can lead us to temptation.

And on the other hand we, as believers, need to make sure we’re not following the fashion trends and causing others to lust. Clothing keeps getting smaller and more revealing. What we wear in the privacy of our homes, with our spouse, is our own business. But when we’re in public, we need to keep ourselves accountable to God and follow His leading.

So please take this as a gentle reminder that this is an area where we can all use a little nudge once in a while to keep us on track. Let God speak to you when it comes to what we wear and what we look at.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-28-14

(Psalm 20:6-7 NKJV)  Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand. {7} Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

Prayer should be the way of life for every believer. It is the most important time of our day, every day. We go to God for anything and everything, not just when we are in trouble. Not just when someone we know is in trouble. We go to God for anything at all, talk to Him and listen for Him.

When trouble comes our way, we don’t run to our family, friends or anyone else first; we go to God. We wait on Him for His answer; He will show us how to get out of the trouble we are in. Then we simply trust Him to lead us and we take the steps He shows us to take.

We don’t take things into our own hands, and try to fix it or figure it out without Him. We wait on Him.

(Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)  But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-26-14

Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

It seems that we always hear about how the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. But we never hear about the last half of this verse.

Knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Now there’s something that we can all use; understanding!

There is so much truth packed into this short portion of scripture that it could be expounded upon for a very long time.

But for the sake of keeping it short, here’s what we need to know.

As we press in to God and draw near to Him, spending time in His word and learning who He is, we begin to get understanding.

We get understanding of more than just the things of God, but of so many important life-related things.

And when we have understanding of more things, we can make better choices, which leads to a better life.

And, more importantly, we can please God to a higher degree because we know what He wants for our lives.

The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. So let’s get understanding!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-25-14

(Galatians 4:16 NKJV) Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

Have we ever had this happen when telling someone the truth? Are we now enemies because we spoke up and told them how we felt, only to protect them or out of concern?

Sometimes this happens when we speak the truth. People may take it the wrong way or maybe they just don’t want to hear the truth and it causes them to get so upset that they want nothing to do with us afterwards.

If this has happened to us at any time in our lives, the worst thing we can do is stop living. In other words, we can’t let what other people think of us rule our lives and dictate to us, accusing us of doing something wrong. Don’t let it hang over our heads like a dark cloud.

We spoke the truth, and if that caused them to think that we are their enemy then that’s what they think. But we need to continue to love them and pray for them. God is faithful to turn things around. In His time, He makes all things beautiful.

Don’t stop living…have fun! Enjoy life! Sometimes we have to speak the truth when the door is open and it may be that whoever we have to speak it to will turn on us. We can’t control that.

All we can do is our part and then keep on living and keep on loving and trust God to work everything else out!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-24-14

(Luke 6:35 NKJV) “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Learning how to love our enemies is completely opposite of what our flesh wants to do to them. We all struggle with this at times.

The flesh says, let’s get them back. How can we punish them? What can we do to make them angry or cause problems for them? How can we make them hurt the way they hurt us? How about we just run from them and never want to see them again?

Our hearts need to understand that there is only one way to handle our enemies. If someone has messed with us and caused trouble for us, if he/she is considered to be our enemy, then we need to love them, in spite of the difficulty, the pain, the sorrow, the problems, etc,. they have caused for us.

There is no way that a person can do this without the help and strength of Jesus Christ and our Helper, the Holy Spirit. If there is someone in your life that is considered to be your enemy, ask Jesus today to help you to love them and treat them respectfully, and let the Holy Spirit guide you in the decisions you have to make regarding the situation.

For even Jesus Himself is kind to those that are unthankful and evil.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-23-14

James 5:16 (NKJV) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

We, followers of Christ, form a body. We are many different parts, operating as one unit.

Or at least that’s how God intends for us to work… in unity, as one. He commanded us to confess our sins to each other, to help each other through the rough times in our lives.

Sadly, though, this doesn’t happen as often as it should. We find ourselves afraid to confess anything to each other, for fear of being judged or made an outcast.

And many of us are also guilty of being the ones who judge those who make mistakes and are honest enough to make it known to others. We all make mistakes; every single one of us. Some mistakes (poor choices) that we make might seem worse than others, but in reality it’s all sin in God’s eyes.

The sad part is that when sin gets categorized like this, some of us tend to look at some people as being worse than others, due simply to the category their sin happens to fall in.

Let’s stop putting sin (and people) into categories and causing division within the body of Christ. Instead, let’s start praying for each other, lifting each other up and supporting each other.

This is what God intended for us to do and how to treat each other.

John 13:34-35 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-14

(Proverbs 3:6 NKJV)  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

It’s Summer time here where we live and it can be a busy season for everyone.

The weather is great and there’s so much we can do! Fishing, swimming, picnicking and family gatherings, and all the excitement. It sure can wear us out.

Before we know it the day, week and month is over and we’ve spent very little one-on-one time with God.

Just a little reminder; acknowledge Him in all our ways, wherever we are and whatever we are doing, keeping God in it.

Keep Him at the forefront of it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-21-14

John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The enemy of our souls comes to destroy us. It is his goal to do whatever is necessary to tear us down and take us out. He will use whatever means are necessary to try to accomplish this.

But Jesus came to defeat the enemy and give us life, abundantly.

Jesus came and paid the price for our sins. His death and resurrection bought our redemption… our salvation and eternal destiny.

But it also did more than that. His death and resurrection bought healing for our bodies and our minds. It bought deliverance from demonic spirits.

As followers of Christ, we never have to be in bondage to anything. Not to sickness, not to depression, addiction or oppression.

Jesus paid the price for every single one of us so that we could be free from these and so many other things. But the world, and even some people in the church, have been fooled into thinking that there is no freedom for some people.

Let me stand boldly today and say very plainly that bondage to any sickness or disease isn’t part of God’s plan for your life. You don’t have to claim ownership of any medical condition, even if the doctors say it’s “incurable”.

They don’t know the power of our God, who is in the healing and delivering business.

My lungs were once riddled with asthma. But today I breathe freely because Jesus set me free. He delivered me and healed me.

And today He can deliver you and heal you too. Believe it. Proclaim it and walk in it.

If He will heal me, He will heal you too.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-19-14

Proverbs 23:4-5 (NKJV)4 Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! 5 Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

Wealth. It’s something that so many of us chase after, but so few attain.

What’s even worse, many of the people who become rich end up losing it all after a period of time. And then they have to start all over again.

God is not against us being rich or wealthy with material means. In fact, poverty is a trap in and of itself that can be used by the enemy to bring us down to new levels of low.

But what God doesn’t want is for us to spend our lives chasing after wealth and missing out on what He really wants us to be doing.

So stop and check yourself today. Are all those hours we’re working really necessary to support ourselves and our family, or are they simply our own way of chasing after things that we don’t really need and can’t really afford?

Hmm. Let’s think about that one and be really honest with ourselves.
