Bible Verse of the Day – 6-30-14

Matthew 9:29 (NKJV) Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”

According to your faith let it be to you.

What does that mean? How does this simple little statement impact our lives when it comes to what God can do for us?

Well, it means the difference between God moving in our lives or Him not moving in our lives. Plain and simple.

Do we need healing? We have to believe that God can heal us at that very moment when we need the healing and when we ask Him for it. If we lack faith, we can ask Him as many times as we want to, but it won’t happen.

Do we need God to make some other kind of change in our life, such as mending a broken relationship? We have to believe that God can mend that relationship.

Do we need God to move for a breakthrough in our finances? We have to believe that God can move and make that change for us.

You see, there are so very many things that we can ask God for and hope that He does them for us, but if we don’t have faith and we’re just asking Him because we think it might help or because we hope He will come through for us, we might as well save our energy.

It is when our faith is active and alive and we truly believe with every fiber of our being that God will do what we’re asking Him to do that we will see Him move.

This can be a very hard thing to explain or to teach, but when God’s spirit moves on us and we get an understanding of what this really means, then there is nothing that God can’t do for us. He is limited only by our faith.

We encourage you to get your Bible out and read the verses before and after the one above and see what Jesus did when people had faith that was alive and active.

According to your faith let it be to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-14

Titus 3:4-7 (NKJV) 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

We are heirs, by His grace, according to the hope of eternal life!

We are heirs with Christ if we have put our faith in Him as our savior.

There isn’t a single thing we can do to earn this. We can’t work for it. We can’t pay for it. We can’t score points and win entry into heaven.

It is ours by His grace. Nothing more, nothing less.

So if you’re beating yourself up today, feeling like you’ve fallen short, stop right now. Stop, because we have all fallen short. Not a single one of us deserves salvation. None of us!

But God has freely given it.

We can never truly understand this, but we can accept it, embrace it and be thankful for it.

Thank you, God, for your grace that you freely give.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-14

(Matthew 7:1 NKJV)  “Judge not, that you be not judged.

Why do we feel the need, at times when someone messes up, to have to judge the situation and give our opinion on the matter? Do we forget that we aren’t perfect and that we mess up too?

Sometimes we need to be reminded that falling, messing up or making mistakes happens to all of us at times, and that none of us are perfect and we need each other more than we think… especially when we make mistakes.

God tells us not to judge each other, but to love one another.

(John 13:34 NKJV)  “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Help someone today that has messed up, by letting them know that no matter what they did wrong, we will still love them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-14

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The world is a troubled place these days. We’re living in times of constant turmoil. Much more so than at any time in the past.

Each one of our nations is facing different types of problems. Here in the USA, our government leaders on both sides have driven our nation into economic and social chaos. Nobody wants to take responsibility for any of the problems. Most politicians and other leaders are too busy pointing their finger at someone else to accept any part of the blame for what’s wrong. Because of this, nothing gets fixed or resolved.

Many other nations in the world are in similar situations. There is political unrest everywhere, with governments being tested, and in some cases, overthrown.

Lawlessness is becoming a way of life for so many people. Respect for authority has dwindled down to almost nothing.

And the fear of God is pretty much a thing of the past. Selfishness and self centeredness have become a way of life for the vast majority of the people in most countries.

It sounds pretty bleak, doesn’t it?

But there is hope! God can fix the problems of our nations. There is nothing too big for Him, but there is a catch.

The “catch” is that we, God’s people, must humble ourselves before Him, pray and seek His face, and repent… turn from our wicked ways. It is not the unbeliever who is supposed to turn from their ways, but the people of God. We hold the keys to helping fix the problems of the world.

We don’t necessarily have to run for political office to make change happen. But we should keep up to date on what’s going on so we know how to pray and what to pray for. It’s important that we keep informed, as long as we don’t get caught up in it or let it affect our mood and our attitude.

So, people of God, let’s pray! Let’s humble ourselves before God, repent and pray. And believe that He will heal our land.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-14

James 1:19 (NKJV) So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

Words.

If you’ve been on our mailing list for any length of time, you know that we teach about the power of our words fairly often.

Our words are very powerful. They impact the people who hear them, whether we speak them directly to someone or they happen to overhear them.

Most times we tend to speak whatever comes to mind in just about any situation.

But we have learned over the years that this can, most times, be a bad thing. It can lead to hurt feelings, damaged relationships and some serious heartache. And the repercussions from misspoken words can last for years, or even decades.

We need to choose our words carefully. We need to think before we speak. And we should never, ever speak out of anger. Anger only lasts a while, but the consequences of words spoken while we’re angry can last a lifetime.

So if we’re angry, we need to take some time to cool down before we address a situation or speak about something that resulted in our anger.

And when we open our mouth to speak, we need to be oh so careful that the words we’re about to say are words that will be pleasing to God, and not just to let off steam, spout off our opinions or express our frustration.

Let’s learn to be quick to hear, slow to anger and slow to speak. And if we can learn this, our lives and the lives of those around us will be so much better.

Bible verse of The Day – 6-24-14

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV) 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

God is able.

He is able to do more than we can ever think or imagine. He is able to take our mess and turn it into something beautiful.

He is able to take our broken selves and make us brand new and usable for His glory.

He is able to pick us up out of the dirt and the mud, clean us off and set our feet back on the path He made for us.

Some of us already know this, and for those who need a bit of encouragement today, know that no matter how bad we feel or how terribly we mess things up, God can fix it.

But here’s the part that most of us miss more than 95% of the time. When God does help us out of our mess He doesn’t do it the way we think He should.

When God fixes our financial problems, it isn’t the way we had it figured out. When God heals a broken relationship, it isn’t the way we thought it would be. When God mends our broken heart, He does it differently than we imagined it would be. When God delivers us from a bad situation, He does it in a way that we would never have figured out in our minds.

You see, God does it His way, because His way is much better than ours!

Even though we think we have it all figured out, our finite minds can never see things the way God sees them. His way is so much better than ours!

Give Him glory today for working in our lives. He deserves it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-14

(John 8:32 NKJV)  “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Who wants to be free today? Or do we like being in bondage?

It’s really sad to say but sometimes we really do like our bondage. It’s like we have gotten so used to it that it has become a way of life for us. We have learned to live with bondage; it may be all we know and we’ve had it for so many years,  we’ve claimed it to be ours.

Another reason we may like our bondage is because we get special treatment or because it gives us an excuse to act the way we do sometimes. You know, like throwing tantrums because things don’t go the way we think they should go.

How many times do we have a tantrum because we didn’t get what we wanted? It can be a silent tantrum, a loud tantrum, a stubborn tantrum. It doesn’t matter. They’re all the same, and it’s simply acting out because we didn’t get what we wanted. That is bondage and we need to let Jesus address it, for He is Truth!

You may ask what this has to do with the truth. If we want the truth we need to reach out for Jesus today and ask Him to come into our lives and show us the way out of our bondage, for He is the way out. He is the answer.

(John 14:6 NKJV)  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

He will set us free as we call on Him and listen to what He guides us in doing.

Get free today from little things, and big things. Let Christ open a whole new way of living for each one of us today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-14

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV) being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

We are all works in progress. None of us is perfect, nor will we ever be.

It’s just part of being human.

This doesn’t mean, however, that God doesn’t want to be working in us to constantly improve us and make us more like Him.

We will trip and fall. We will get back up. And sometimes we will make the same mistakes several times before we get it right. But God can handle it. We just have to let Him.

So remember, as you go through your day today, if you mess up and say something you shouldn’t have said, or if you get angry when you should have stayed calm or if you make any other mistake, that God isn’t done with you yet.

But He that started a work in you is faithful to complete it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-20-14

(Luke 3:16 NKJV)  John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

John was talking to all the multitudes that came out to be baptized with water, and he distinctively tells them he will baptize them with water, but Jesus will baptize them with the Holy Spirit and fire. This is two separate baptisms.

It is in the baptism of the Holy Spirit that we will receive power to do the things God calls us to do.

(Acts 1:8 NKJV)  “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Water baptism is symbolic of the death of the old person that we once were, before we knew Christ, before we repented and asked God to come into our hearts and be our Savior. When we are submerged in the water it is symbolic of the old person dying and when we rise up out of the water it is symbolic of the new person, the new us.

If we have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior but we have not had a water baptism we should do so. If we have been baptized by water, but have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire, and we want to, then ask God to fill you today with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Be blessed!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-19-14

(Genesis 1:1 NKJV)  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

I had a chance to get away and go to the beach yesterday. As I sat there, with my eyes closed and my head resting back in my chair, I heard the waves crashing, I smelled the saltwater air, I felt the soft sand on my feet and the warmth of the sun on my face. If we do not have anything to call our own, God gave us His creation to enjoy!

Sometimes we can get so spoiled with the beauty that is all around us we can forget to acknowledge it. If we forget to acknowledge the creation, will we forget to acknowledge our Creator?

God gave creation for us to enjoy, to remind us how blessed we are every day we wake, to see His wonderful works among us. And to show us that He is alive and He cares about us.

Take some time today to enjoy the beauty that doesn’t cost a thing. It’s ours from our Heavenly Father.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-18-14

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

We like to take a walk every day. We enjoy the time outside in the fresh air and we enjoy the exercise. It’s part of what we do do to take care of our temple, the physical body that God has given us.

During our walks we get to see the beauty of God’s creation, hear the birds singing, see the sky, the clouds, the trees and so much more. We also get to spend time talking and sharing with each other, with no interruptions. We talk about a lot of different things.

But we also get to see stuff. We get to see people’s lives as we walk past their homes every day. We get to see some local businesses as they do their stuff. And we even get to see one small, local church that happens to be on one of the streets that we walk on frequently.

This church had a sign out front recently that said “All Are Welcome”. We walked by and as I read that sign, I thought to myself, “are all really welcome?”.

Are all people really welcome, no matter what they look like, no matter how they dress, no matter how many tattoos they have or whether they have piercings, dreadlocks, or any other kind of outward alterations to their appearance?

Or is it taboo to show up wearing clothes that are less than your “Sunday best”? Is it not acceptable to come in if you happen to be homeless and haven’t showered in weeks? Is it not OK to come in if you happen to have been out the night before, gotten drunk and still wreak of alcohol and you’ve come in because you realize that you need God and don’t know where else to turn?

Jesus said He came to give rest to the weak, the weary, the burdened and the tired. He told us that it is not the well who need a physician, but the sick.

Matthew 9:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

So we ask you today, in your church or in your own heart, are “all” really welcome?

Think about it.
