Bible Verse of The Day – 5-6-14

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

On our own, we might be able to accomplish some things. We might be able to use our brain power to reach some goals. This isn’t an insult to Christ. It’s a testament to the human brain, which God created and blessed us with.

But on our own we are limited. We are limited to the finite capabilities of that same human mind. We are limited to our own understanding of things. And when we compare that to the wisdom and understanding of God, we are very limited!

But with Christ, the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit and the anointing of God, we can do anything that God directs us to do.

Notice I didn’t say anything that we set our minds to? That’s because our minds are limited, but God isn’t. With God leading us, through Christ, we can do anything.

We can accomplish things in our lives that we would never imagine possible. We can even accomplish things that we never even thought we would be doing!

Once God plants a seed in us to perform a specific task or do a certain job for Him, as long as we follow His plan, we can accomplish it and fulfill His desires for our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-14

(Psalm 110:1 NKJV)  The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”

God will make our enemy our footstool. We don’t have to chase our enemy down nor think of ways to destroy him. God will take care of our enemy.

Who is our enemy? Is it the person at work that is trying to steal our position, making us look bad to our employer? Is it our spouse, not caring for us or giving us the attention we need? Is it our children taking the wrong path in life? Is it our family and friends gossiping and sharing things that aren’t true or even our neighbors causing problems and making life difficult for us?

Let us not forget who our enemy is: (1 Peter 5:8 NKJV)  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

The devil is our enemy, and he will use people’s weakness to get to us and try to devour us.

Don’t look at the person that he may be using, and take it personally. Look beyond them, and see what the root of it is. Our enemy is not that person you see, but the devil working through them.

God will make our enemy our footstool!! That should cause us to run to God when we see things stirring up, because it is His battle and He will turn it around!

In Joshua 10:24-25 Joshua had all the men of Israel come out and put their foot on the necks of the kings. These Amorite kings were their enemy. This was to show what the Lord will do to all their enemies that came against them.

Are we ready to win the battle today? Sit, remain close to Him and let Him protect us. His way is righteous and brings victory!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-14

(Matthew 11:28 NKJV)  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Sometimes we just need to stop! Stop worrying, stop working so hard, stop trying to make things happen that we have no control over, just stop and rest.

We need to rest, not in our parents, not in our best friend, not in our spouse, and not in our pastor. We need to rest in God.

How do we find rest in God? We tell Him what it is that has us all in an uproar, thank Him for helping us through it and praise HIM… for we know He’s got it!!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-2-14

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

We recently had a reader write to us and ask us some questions about a situation she has in her life.

We won’t give details as to what her exact situation is, but she had written regarding a verse and teaching we had sent out about husbands loving their wives. She ultimately asked us to define love and asked us for scriptures to give her a better, clearer understanding of how love should be acted out.

We’d like to share with you the answer that we gave her, to hopefully help everyone else who might need to read and learn about these same things. So below is part of our answer to her questions. We gave her the scripture reference above and then included our feedback and counsel. This might be a little lengthy, but we want to share the entire thing so that nothing gets left out and it leaves no question unanswered.

“Love implies action, even if it isn’t used as a verb. If we love someone, it is something that we feel, as well as something that we show the person we love. With love, there comes commitment. This can be a commitment to some kind of action or a commitment to a life together, etc.

Some people are way better than others at showing love and acting it out. A lot of this has to do with our emotional and spiritual condition. People who struggle with a lot of different emotional baggage are not usually good at showing love to others. The same could be said for people who’s spiritual life is a mess. If they’re not right with God, and they are full of negativity, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, etc., they will usually not be good at showing love to people.

On the contrary, they are usually better at sowing anger, bitterness, discontentment and even hatred. Sometimes it might seem to ooze from them, as they try to sort out their miserable condition and come to terms with who they are as a person.

The hardest part is for those around them to keep loving them, even when all that person seems to be able to do is hurt everyone else.

As for the definition of love? Different people will define it differently, but here’s they way we should see it, being followers of Christ.

Love is caring for someone so deeply that we put them before ourselves. Love is making sacrifices for those that you love, even if it means doing without something so that the other person can have it. Love is showing a person how much you care, whether through a hug, a smile, a gentle touch or a kind, encouraging word. Love is all of these and more. Love is not based on just how we feel at any given moment. Love is something we learn how to do, over our entire lifetime. As we grow and mature, we should learn how to love more deeply and without having to think about it.

Now, with all of that said, love should be a two-way street, not just one-way. When one person loves and gives their all and the other person fails to live up to their end of the bargain, it hurts and it can cause anger or resentment. And if the person on the hurting end isn’t careful, they can become bitter and hard, causing them to step way outside of where God wants them to be. And before they know it, they are full of anger. Anger can blind us and cause us not to be able to see things clearly and it can cause us to miss out on things that God might be trying to show us or teach us in our everyday lives.

Although there are other scriptures that talk and teach about love, this one is pretty much the summation of all the others.”

So if there is someone in your life that you love, love them like you mean it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-1-14

(Luke 17:6 NKJV)  So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

Faith as a mustard seed.

Mustard seed: the small round seeds of various mustard plants. The seeds are usually about 1 or 2 mm in diameter. That’s very small!

If we have faith as a mustard seed… At first it is small faith, and that’s OK. It has to start somewhere. But we don’t want it to stay small. In order to get it to grow we need to water it with the word of God and take steps of faith as He leads us.

Draw close to God. When we draw close to Him our hearts will connect with Him and we will know what His will is for us.

We can believe for His will to be done in our lives, trusting and crying out to Him, and it shall be done, as we have faith as a mustard seed.
