Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-13

(1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV)  Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, {7} casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Humility is a very important part of being a child of God. It’s not always an easy thing, but it’s critically important.

There are many benefits to being humble and there are many different aspects of being humble. What we’d like to share today deals with casting our cares upon Him. This isn’t taught very often from this particular point of view, but it needs to be!

So what does casting our cares upon Him have to do with humility? Everything!

If we cast our cares upon Him, we do so because we have humbled ourselves enough to admit that we don’t have the answers. We have reached the end of our plans, our ideas, our schemes and even our intellect.

Now… what does His word say about humility? It says that He gives grace to the humble and He opposes the proud.

(James 4:6 NKJV)  But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

So if we’re proud, we’re already fighting a losing battle because we’re fighting against God.

If you feel like you’re backed into a corner right now and you have no answers, maybe that’s not such a bad place to be, despite how it might feel. Because now that we have exhausted our own ideas, maybe we will let God step in and do what He wants to do with us.

Cast your cares upon Him today.

Bible verse of The Day – 4-3-13

(Colossians 3:18-19 NKJV)  Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. {19} Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

We wanted to take a minute today to address something that is so very critical in the body of Christ.

Over the past couple of years we have received so very many emails from both husbands and wives, telling us of the unfaithfulness of their spouse or the abusive behavior of their spouse.

We have spent a lot of time counseling some of these people and walking them through the repair and healing process for their marriage and for their own emotional condition.

It has been heartbreaking and rewarding at the same time. It has been fulfilling to know that we can share God’s words with couples and watch their marriages become healed and whole again. But it has also been so very sad to see how Christian couples can fall into such terrible states of disrepair in their relationships.

We urge you today to make the time and take the time that is needed to treat your relationship with your spouse the way it deserves to be treated, and to treat your spouse with love and respect.

There is not a single one of us who is perfect in our relationships. We all fall so terribly short sometimes. But it’s nothing that we can’t fix in ourselves, if we truly want to, with God’s help.

So take some time today, right now, and examine your relationship with your spouse. Be brutally honest with yourself and ask yourself if you’re giving your marriage 100%.

If you can’t honestly answer that question with a solid “yes”, please take the steps necessary to make it right. You can do this, with God’s help and wisdom.

We are here for you if you need our counsel. You are loved.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-13

(Psalm 29:11 NKJV)  The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.

Are we running on empty today? Have we given out every last bit of ourselves and feel like just curling up in a ball and staying in bed? I would say that is a good sign we need God’s strength.

I was taught as a young child you don’t show those ones trying to hurt you or pick on you that they are getting to you. No matter how I felt, I had to keep a smile on my face and keep going.

Well, that’s OK to do around those that would love to see you fail. But, when it comes to our Lord, we can let down our guard for He knows what we need and where we are at emotionally, and physically.

If we are drained…we need to refuel. Let down your guard and get God’s strength and peace today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-13

(Luke 17:12-17 NKJV)  Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. {13} And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” {14} So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. {15} And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, {16} and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. {17} So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

I remember many years ago writing and preaching a sermon called “Where are the Nine?”

This is such an important question for each and every one of us. But it’s not so much about looking at others, to see who does or doesn’t thank God for their blessings.

It’s solely about us and how we react toward God in various situations in our lives. So many times we ask God to do something for us and yet, when we receive His blessings, we quickly forget where we came from and how much God did for us.

Let us ask God today to make us a people with grateful hearts… hearts of thankfulness. And then let’s determine within ourselves to do what’s required on our end to follow through with it.

(Colossians 3:15 NKJV)  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
