Bible Verse of The Day – 2-15-13

(1 Peter 4:8 NKJV)  And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

Have fervent love for one another. Is this a cheesy Valentine ‘s Day message? Absolutely not.

Valentine’s day is man-made and has nothing to do with the love that God wants us to share with one another. But God tells us to love one another with “fervent love”. Fervent means “having great intensity”.

This isn’t always easy, is it? Oh, we can “like” people, but how do we learn to love them fervently?

There’s only one way; to see them as God sees them and to love them with God’s love, not ours.

This takes a lot of practice and a lifetime to get right. But this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do it.

God has commanded us in His word. That’s enough reason for me to want to do it. How about you?

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-14-13

(James 1:17 NKJV)  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Our God is so good. He is the author of truth.

He is the solid rock upon which our faith is built. He never varies or falters. We never have to worry about going to Him and having Him turn us away.

He is the Father of lights. There is no darkness in Him.

There is nobody in this world that can take His place or fill His shoes.

We are children of The Most High God.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-13-13

(James 1:13-14 NKJV)  Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. {14} But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Many times I have heard people teaching or being taught that God tempts people in order to test them. People will sometimes ask us questions relating to this, wondering why God would test them in such ways.

God is not a tempter. Tempting is the work of the enemy of our souls.

Interestingly, most temptations come when we have allowed ourselves to be drawn away from God by curiosity or fleshly desire. It is then that we can fall prey to temptation, choosing to do the very thing that God has taught us not to do.

The very best defense we have against this is not to allow ourselves to fall into curiosity about things that don’t concern us or things that we know aren’t good for us.

It doesn’t matter what it is. If we know that we shouldn’t even contemplate it, we should choose to turn and walk away from it right away. Lingering or trying to decide what to do about it will only increase the chances of falling and giving in to that temptation.

Resisting temptation isn’t complicated and doesn’t require us to be super-spiritual. We just need to exercise our common sense and the spiritual muscles that God has given us. And walk away.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-12-13

(Matthew 18:20 NKJV)  “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

There is Power in joining together in the name of Jesus! This verse tells us that He is there in the midst of us. We don’t have to be anywhere in particular to have Him there. He’ll come wherever we join together in His Name. We just have to be together, in one accord.

What happens when Jesus is around? Oh, the blind eyes were opened, the water was turned to wine, the lepers were healed, and the demons were cast out! I’d say there was action all around; there was not one dull moment. Nope, not one!

I ask this question today; what does our gathering look like when we come together in the name of Jesus? If He is there, it should be full of action. Not dull, not boring, and not ritualistic. Salvation, Healing, Deliverance and Miracles should be taking place!

Just last week, I was barely moving. I had thrown my back out pretty good and could hardly move. The pain was causing me to do very little, if anything.

My grandchildren came over to visit one day. I said to them, “Just as I have prayed for you when your were sick, I need you to pray for me”. Without a moment’s thought they both knelt down beside me and laid their little 4 & 5 year old hands on my back and said “Dear God, in the name of Jesus heal my Grand mommy. Amen!” That was it. They got up and went to play.

That day, I was moving better… I was walking; I was marching around that house. God was there in the midst of me and my Grand-babies as we agreed together in His name for Healing!!

Give Him the Glory!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-13

(Galatians 6:15 NKJV)  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.

When we are “in Christ”, it doesn’t matter if we’re white, black, Asian, Indian, Malaysian, Hispanic, Filipino or any other race, color or ethnic background. It doesn’t matter if we’re rich, poor or somewhere in between.

When we are in Christ, we are a new creation, period. Our spiritual condition is not changed by our heritage, our family background or our ethnicity. Once we have been born again, we are just that… born again!

What we have done in our past is now washed away by the blood of Jesus. God has no concerns where we are from or who our parents are. He doesn’t stop and do a background check on us to see if we’re worthy of salvation!

As believers… followers of Christ, we NEED to set aside racial preferences. We NEED to put away discrimination, regardless of who it is against. We NEED to stop disrespecting people because of where they are from OR preferring them because of their color, race or ethnic background.

Racism is not of God. PERIOD. Racism flies in the face of our creator and mocks the One who died for us, insinuating that His death was only for a certain few “chosen” people.

If we are true followers of Christ we will NEVER let race, skin color, ethnic background or anything similar change our minds about anyone.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-9-13

(Luke 22:42 NKJV)  saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

If we want to do the will of the Father we have to put our feelings, our emotions and our will aside. Jesus put His aside and did what the Father wanted Him to do. He did what He had to do in spite of how He felt.

Sometimes we may look at a person that God is asking us to reach out to or offer help to and we think “why should I reach out to them? They have never been there for me when I needed them.” Or “they would never do it for me. Why, should I do anything kind or nice for them, when at times they would just as soon spit in my face?”

If we are going to be used by God, that attitude and those thoughts have to be laid down at the feet of Jesus and left there.

Doing the will of the Father may require our feelings, thoughts, and emotions toward others to be put aside.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-13

(Hebrews 3:12-13 NKJV)  Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; {13} but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

The deceitfulness of sin is a terrible thing that every single one of us struggles with at one time or another.

Sin is indeed deceitful. It can start out so small and subtle, sneaking in almost unnoticed. Most times we know it’s there, but we try to brush it off and hope it won’t happen again or grow bigger.

One sin can lead to another, and before we know it, it begins to cause our heart to become hardened as we try to cover it up or justify it.

I want to appeal to each one of us today to ask God to show us our sin… show us where we have missed Him and dropped the ball. It might be something little or it might be something big, but let’s be honest with ourselves and with our Creator and let Him help us to make it right.

You see, a hard heart is never a good thing. The enemy loves it when we harden our hearts because it makes it easier for him to have a hold on us and power over us.

Once we open ourselves up to God and we let Him expose our hearts, we can begin to see who we are and ask Him to help us in those areas where we’re weak.

Seek God today and let Him show you where He wants to help you, heal you and deliver you.

He is our healer, our deliverer and so much more.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-13

(2 Kings 6:17 NKJV)  And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw…

There are times in life when we just don’t see things the way God would like us to see it.

The reason is that we are often too scared, negative, doubtful, emotional, or too caught up and busy to see it. But God wants to help us in this area!

Do you ever find yourself asking God over and over, “what is it?” So many times we are asking Him to show us what to do or how to handle things and we just can’t see it no matter how hard we try.

Well, He sure isn’t ignoring us. It’s just we are not seeing it. We’re not completely surrendering our plan and opening ourselves up to His plan.

We have to ask God to open up our eyes, just like Elisha did for his servant; and then, when He opens our eyes to see it, we don’t 1. try to do it ourselves and 2. run the other way because it looks too hard. But instead, we surrender to Him and say “Yes Lord”!

Let God open our eyes today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-13

(Acts 19:19-20 NKJV)  Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. {20} So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

What is the body of Christ dabbling in today?

Magic? Fortune Telling? Astrology? Psychics? And so many other things that are “spiritual”, but not of the Spirit of God?

I want to make an appeal today to purify yourself in your relationship with God. We don’t need God and something else. We just need God.

Jesus did not die on the cross so we could have faith in Him and the local fortune teller. He didn’t suffer at the hands of the Roman soldiers so we could call Him our Savior and then base our lives on what the tarot cards say we should do or shouldn’t do.

I call on you right now to abandon these demonic practices and cling to Jesus and Him alone. If you have dabbled in any of these things or if you practice them regularly, stand up today and renounce them all in the name of Jesus.

Turn from them and ask Him to forgive you, and then forsake those practices for the rest of your days.

Trust in Him and Him alone. Let the Word of God prevail in your life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-5-13

(John 14:8-9 NKJV)  Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” {9} Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

These verses make me shake my head in awe.

Jesus was openly confessing to the disciples that He was God in the flesh. He was the human essence of God the Father.

The Father is spirit. We cannot see or behold Him. But He wanted to come to earth in bodily form to reach out to us, to make himself approachable to us and to “walk in our shoes”, so to speak.

Jesus coming to earth was God’s ultimate way of saying “I Love You”, even in dying for us on the cross.

Let’s not take this lightly. Read and re-read the verses above and let this get into your spirit. Jesus said “Have I been with you so long and yet you have not known me?”. He was answering as the Father… the supreme Lord of all.

How completely awesome is that?

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-4-13

(Jeremiah 17:7 NKJV)  “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.

Let us take a look at our situation today and see who it is we put our trust in.

Are we trusting in our jobs? Our jobs can be here today and gone tomorrow. Are we trusting in our finances to bring us happiness and to take care of us? Do we trust in our friends and family more than we trust in God?

These are all great things to have… a wonderful family and good friends, a job that pays well! But, we do not put our trust in them. There is NO security in any of them.

The Lord is who we are safe with always. Put our trust in Him. Rely on Him. Call on Him, and give to Him of ourselves today.

The Lord is FAITHFUL!
