Bible Verse of The Day – 11-30-12

(1 Cor 15:57 NKJV)  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Victory is ours. God’s word says so.

You might not feel victorious right now, but victory is coming. Don’t get me wrong… it doesn’t usually come when we think it should. But it will come if we hold fast to God and don’t give up!

Now that we have that out there, let’s talk for a minute about why we need victory. There’s only one reason for needing victory. A battle.

If we’re not in a battle, we don’t need victory. If we need victory it’s because we’re in a battle. So if we want victory, we have to go through a battle. Victory never, ever comes without a fight.

And we also need to understand that when we are in a fight, in a battle, there can be times when we get hurt and we sometimes end up with scars from our wounds.

But God is the great healer. Not only does He help us get victory, but He can also heal us from our wounds and help those scars to fade and disappear.

What is your battle today? Name it and then claim victory in the name of Jesus Christ. Seek God’s wisdom as to how to fight the battle and then move forward.

He gives us the victory through Jesus. Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-29-12

(1 Corinthians 15:51-52 NKJV)  Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed; {52} in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

These verses and others similar to it are awe-inspiring!

When I think about what God has planned for the future, it is truly astounding and beyond what the mind of man can comprehend. Despite all of the technology and wisdom that we have at our fingertips today, we still can’t figure out or fathom the mysteries of God.

God’s wonders extend far beyond what He will do in the last days. But think for a moment about the reality of what Paul was writing about above and just try to wrap your mind around it.

Pretty much impossible, isn’t it? That’s our God. That’s the complexity of who He is and how incredibly powerful He is. There is no comprehending His power and might.

Now, as you finish reading this, don’t just push this aside and forget about it. Try to remind yourself of this throughout the day and let it penetrate your spirit.

This is the God we serve. Now how awesome is that!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-12

(Matthew 26:41 NKJV)  “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Making choices to do what is right is going to take getting our spirit to line up with God’s Word and His Spirit.

How do we get our spirit lined up with Him? The Bible teaches us all about God. Every scripture we take in will feed our spirit with good wisdom and knowledge to help us make the right decisions.

Our flesh will fight against this but we have the authority in Christ to stop the fight.

If you feel like you are always battling with the flesh about things that you know you shouldn’t be doing, then it’s time for you to stop the battle and command the desires of your flesh to submit to the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name.

Say no to the flesh and its weakness and say YES to God!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-12

(Matthew 7:12 NKJV)  “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Going by this scripture are we to only do good to those that do good to us, those that treat us right or show us attention, those that know us and are in our group? No. We need to treat people the way we would like them to treat us, whether we know them personally or not.

For instance, I used to clean for this company. The owner trained me and taught me when you go in to the homes/business you are to move fast and just wipe things down. Spray with Windex but don’t take to much time. She would give me an allotted amount of time.

When I went in to clean for the customers, I couldn’t do it that way, it felt wrong to me. They were paying really good money. So, I would work faster and harder to do a more thorough job and give the customer what they were paying for, and my boss couldn’t tell because I would be done in the time she allotted me.

The day came when the customers started to request for me to come and clean for them instead of her or others that she would send. It was not my intention for this to happen, but it did.

Time went by and she had to stop working and let go of the business. Guess who ended up with the whole business? ME! What a blessing for me! I wasn’t just getting a paycheck but I was getting a business. For what? For doing unto others as I would want done to myself. Amen!!

Don’t think that your efforts are going unseen…God is faithful!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-26-12

(1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJV)  Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

We are not our own. If we have become children of God, we do not belong to ourselves. We belong to Him.

In light of this, we need to honor our bodies and take care of them. There are many implications to this. We can look at this from a spiritual point of view and a physical point of view.

Today we’re going to look at the physical (or natural) side of it.

What do we do to damage or abuse our bodies?

Let’s take a look at a few things; smoking, over-eating, obesity, drug use, alcohol abuse, and others that can be named as part of this list.

Every single one of us has probably been guilty of at least one of these at some point in our lives. Not eating properly was a biggie for me for many years. I love snacks. Oh, and they love me too! I can tell by the way they would cling to me 🙂

But God convicted me about my eating habits and I have been working really hard to change them. And I feel so much better, healthier now.

Some people might say that things like this really don’t matter to God. But if He put it in His word it’s because it matters to Him! We can’t just pick and choose the things that we like or don’t like about His word.

What’s your bad habit? What can you think of that you do to yourself that isn’t pleasing to God?

We are His. He wants us to take care of ourselves and stick around for a while. He still has much for us to do!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-24-12

(Romans 3:23-24 NKJV)  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, {24} being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…

We have all sinned. It’s something that every single human being ever born and who will ever be born has in common. None of us can claim otherwise.

But even in this apparent failure of humanity, God has rescued us! In His infinite wisdom, mercy and compassion, God chose to walk the earth in human form and redeem each and every one of us.

He has set us free from death by giving us eternal life.

Every single one of us needs to understand this; that we will fail and we will sin, but we don’t need to be depressed or condemned about it.

We need to ask for forgiveness, turn from our sin and move on. It doesn’t matter if we have failed multiple times. If we truly want to make it right, God will pick us back up and brush the dirt off of us and help us get back on track.

So don’t beat yourself up over the times when you’ve slipped and made mistakes. Give it to God. Let Him take it from you. Keep looking forward and upward.

We have been justified freely by His grace.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-23-12

(James 3:10 NKJV)  Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

How many of us can praise God in the morning when we wake up and shortly after that something happens to cause us to say something we know we shouldn’t be saying?

This stuff irritates me to no end, because it is so hard at times to stop in the middle of saying something. It’s like once it gets rolling it’s hard to turn it off. So, we have to try that much harder to not let it get rolling.

We have to catch it when it is still a thought. Do you remember your mom or dad telling you when you are growing up, you need to think before you speak? I remember especially when it was all said and done, and I was getting a lecture over what I just did. Whew…how many times did we have to hear this one?

We all struggle with this and it’s not easy. But, I will say that God is even pleased with our efforts in trying to do the right thing. If we fail and say or do it wrong, we need to repent and work at getting it right next time. That is what God is looking for… our effort in trying to do what is right.

Keep working it! It will get easier.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-22-12

(1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV)  But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

God looks at the heart of man. There are times when we can deceive ourselves into thinking we are someone that we are not, but He will show us the truth. There may be times when others are going to deceive us and try to use us for their gain. He will help us to see their motive.

The heart is what makes everyone. (Matthew 12:35 NKJV)  “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

It’s important to know our own hearts for sure and to know the heart of others at times. We need God  to help us in seeing this.

Let us take some time today to check our hearts, and let God teach us to look at the hearts of others and have His discernment when doing so.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-21-12

(Mark 6:4 NKJV)  But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”

Walking with God is an awesome privilege. There is nothing like it.

Bringing God’s love and truth to others is also incredibly fulfilling. It brings a sense of worth, accomplishment and a “knowing” that you are right where God wants you to be.

The funny thing is that when it comes to our families, they can sometimes be the hardest ones to reach. They can mock us, ridicule us and tell us we’re crazy. They might even tell others that we’re crazy!!

Why is this? What is it about family that makes them so hard to reach for Christ?

Familiarity… knowing too much about us. This can cause people who know us to see us differently than those who know nothing about us. Familiarity makes it hard for people to see beyond what they knew of us in the past and to see us in the present, where God is using us now.

But it’s OK!! God can use us anyway. If people we know won’t hear us or accept us, we can still share God’s love with others.

And if our family doesn’t want to listen, we can still pray for them. With God, all things are possible.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-20-12

(Proverbs 10:12 NKJV)  Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.

I want to touch base on something that God has really been driving home in my life over the past year or more. And He has been teaching me how to really put it into practice each day.

Love conquers all. This is a fact and I am seeing it more and more, and I’m truly beginning to understand the truth end depth of this statement.

Love disarms angry people. Love brings peace into stressful situations. Love forgives when people might not think forgiveness is merited.

You see, we all sin… each and every one of us. There are some who choose to hang onto the sins of others and wave them like flags for everyone to see. There’s something satisfying in this for some people.

These types of people thrive on tearing people down to make themselves look good, and it breaks the heart of God.

And then there are those who choose to love and to forgive, and this pleases God!

(1 Peter 4:8 NKJV)  And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

Do you know someone who has sinned? Maybe they even sinned against you.

Love them. It won’t necessarily be easy to do, but God has commanded us to love.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-19-12

(Mat 9:29 NKJV)  Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”

How much faith do we have today?

I find it interesting when He says, according to YOUR faith, let it be to you. It really is up to us as to how far we can go. As to how much God can do for us and with us, it is according to our faith.

Think about this; are we ready to see some big changes in our lives or do we just want little changes? If we believe God for little things, then little things we shall receive. But, if we believe Him for big things, then big things we shall receive.

There will be times when we walk in big faith and when change comes we will not be able to explain it to people that have questions. But that’s OK. Don’t let not being able to explain things, stop us from believing God for big things.

We serve a God that can handle big things…let us have faith today and watch the miracles take place in our lives and in the lives of those God connects us with.

According to your faith…let it be to YOU!!
