Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-12

(1 Ki 19:11-12 NKJV)  Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; {12} and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

A still small voice. How fitting is it that God, who is all-powerful, would choose to speak to us in a still small voice?

But He does! He speaks to us in such subtle ways that we often miss it. Missing it usually means that we make bad decisions or poor choices and these usually cost us on one way or another.

God wants us to learn to hear Him. Why? Because He wants us to put some effort into and learn to operate in FAITH! If God spoke to us with a booming voice or ominous thunder it would require absolutely no faith at all on our part. That’s not how He operates.

Here’s a story about a time when God “spoke to me” at least 3 times in a single day and I missed Him, and it cost me dearly in many ways. Please read through this because there is a lesson to be learned!

Several years ago I was planning a fishing outing with some friends at a local lake. We had done some rough planning ahead of time, but when it came to the day of the event, it just didn’t seem like it was falling into place very easily.

Well, we pushed forward anyway and we all went to the lake for some fishing. We got to the lake and the conditions were terrible. But I ignored it and went fishing anyway.

About 45 minutes into the fishing trip, I had this ominous feeling that I needed to go back to the boat launch and check our vehicles. I ignored it and kept fishing.

A little while later I had a nauseous feeling that I couldn’t explain. I ignored it and kept fishing.

Still, a third time, I had this terrible feeling that I needed to quit fishing and go back to check my vehicle. I ignored it and kept fishing.

After fishing for the number of hours that we had pre-planned, we returned to the boat launch. And we found that all of our vehicles had been broken into, including my brand new truck that had only 1,000 miles on it. Windows were smashed and items had been stolen.

Needless to say, this was costly in terms of money and inconvenience. Had I listened and never gone to the lake to begin with, I would have avoided this. Had I heeded God’s promptings and listened as I was urged to return to the launch to check my vehicle or leave entirely, I would have avoided this.

This was a valuable lesson for me several years ago. I learned from it.

God wants us to hear Him. We just need to learn to hear Him.

He is talking. Are we listening?

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-30-12

(Psa 41:1 NKJV)  Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

Helping the poor is a big part of what living for Christ is all about. We feel that there should be not one poor or hungry person in this world that we live in.

God’s supply is enough. He has given us everything we need to help each other. If we all could pull together as one body, instead of having so many denominations that cause us to argue and get distracted from the important things in this world, we could get a lot done, help a lot of people and see God’s hand move mightily in the earth today!!

Who is willing to step out in faith, with God’s leading, to consider the poor? Let us pray together that God would use each one of us today to help someone poor.

The Bible Verse of The Day is reaching thousands of people a day all around this world, and you are one of them.

If we all stood together in unity and we asked God to show us who the one is that’s in need, do you know the impact we could make together? If we took this step together, we would be touching the world with God’s love.

We don’t have to be a licensed, ordained minister to consider the poor. We don’t need a shiny title to share God’s love. We just need to be WILLING and open to what God asks of us.

Let us consider the poor today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-29-12

(Luke 2:10-11 NKJV)  Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. {11} “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

I sometimes wonder what it must have been like to have lived in this era, when the angels came to announce the birth of Jesus, the savior of the world. My mind can’t comprehend what this must have been like.

But it happened. God sent His son in the form of a baby, born in the lowliest of places. Jesus lived his life with a purpose and fulfilled that purpose, dying the cruelest death on the cross.

This happened over 2000 years ago. Not a generation has gone by since then that hasn’t known about this incredible event. Some chose to believe it, while others have chosen to claim that they don’t believe it at all. Others claim not to have any opinion at all.

But we, the followers of Christ, have a mission of our own. Our mission is to take the love, grace and mercy that we found in Christ and pass it on to others.

We are to love people, even when they are unlovable. We are to accept them as they are, not do everything in our power to change them so we can bring them to God. We are not to judge people… not for how they look, where they come from or any reason that we can think of.

WE are to love them!!

It’s the love of God that draws people, not our criticism, our judgments or our opinions. Jesus came to die for us, and do you know what? He died for them too! And before we were children of God, we were one of them!

Love them all, even when they are unlovable.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-27-12

(Gen 15:5-6 NKJV)  Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” {6} And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

Believing is when everything within us says yes and amen to whatever it is that we need to believe in or believe for.

For instance, when God said to Abram, “so shall your descendants be”… at that very moment, everything in Abram believed what God said. At that very moment, if there was anything trying to bring doubt or confusion, etc., Abram had to shut it down and believe what God was saying to him, versus anything that might have tried to get him to think otherwise.

That is when it became belief! God knew that Abram believed with His whole being and at that moment the Word that was spoken to Abram became real and alive! The journey began. You see, God’s Word mixed with Belief makes it alive!

When Abram believed God, it says He accounted it to him for righteousness. Wow!! This is something we can shout about!

How many times does God give us a Word and a part of us says yes and the other part says HOW? Well, don’t try to figure out the how, it will destroy the belief. Just let the part of you that says YES and Amen rule and reign over the part that says how.

God is looking for a people that will stop trying to figure Him out and just say YES with everything in us!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-26-12

(1 Cor 13:8 NKJV)  Love never fails…

There is actually more to this verse, but today we want to focus on one thing; LOVE.

Love is the ultimate expression God has given us to show others how much we care. It isn’t meant to be mushy or overly emotional, but it does need to be genuine and sincere.

Love isn’t what TV and Movies make it out to be. It has become twisted and perverted and not at all how God intended for it to be.

But love as God intended it to be is pure and without motives. It isn’t used to gain something or get our own way. It isn’t manipulative.

God loves us without condition or fail. His love is steadfast and constant. If there is one thing that we can depend on, no matter what happens, it’s God’s love. It will never change or go away.

So today, know that God’s love never fails. He loves you no matter what you have done or what you have gone through. And know that God has given us His love so we can hand it out to others, with no strings attached and with no motives.

His love, whether directly from Him, or given to others through us, is truly life-changing.

Knowing God’s Word will help us make the right decisions. If we keep it fresh in us daily, and live by it, we will be strong!

His Word guides us and leads us down the right path.

Let us rejoice today and be thankful that we have such a wonderful treasure like this to keep us balanced and on the right track.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-24-12

(Eph 6:4 NKJV)  And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

There are many different ways that we, as parents, can provoke our children. The verse above mentions fathers specifically, but this can be applied to mothers also.

We can provoke them directly, with antagonizing or harsh words, or abusive treatment. But we can also provoke them with some of the things that we don’t do.

We can provoke them by not spending time with them, by not paying attention to them, not being there when they need us, not showing them and giving them the love they deserve, etc.

Being a parent is a privilege, not a right. Our children are a blessing from God and we need to be sure we’re treating them that way! It’s way too easy to skip out on our responsibilities in today’s world, with so much time spent working.

But we can also skip out by spending too much time playing… time in front of the computer, on the smart phone, on the golf course, on the boat, in church, in ministry, and the list goes on.

God has given us priorities and they go like this: God, Spouse, Children, Work, etc. Our children are in the top 3, so we need to be careful not to let them slip into the bottom 3! It’s easy to do and sometimes we need a gentle nudge to remind us or to wake us up.

Love your children with everything in you, even when they get under your skin. We have one shot at raising each one of them, so we need to make it count!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-23-12

(1 John 3:17-18 NKJV)  But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? {18} My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

We, as the body of Christ, His bride, need to come together in One love, for such a time as this. We must pull together and love like Christ loves!

That does not mean that I love you because you are of the same denomination as me, or I love you because you are the same skin color as me. It doesn’t mean I love you because we agree on the same things and have the same opinion. We are not to pick and choose who we love.

No! This love is bigger then all of that. This kind of LOVE loves unconditionally, no matter what the situation, no matter where you’ve been or where you come from, and no matter who you are or what you think.

It’s the kind of love that says “I love you for one reason… because Christ’s love lives in me”.

Step out today. Ask God to show you who He wants you to do something nice for. And then simply do as He has shown you.

Action speaks volumes.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-22-12

(Mat 19:30 NKJV)  “But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Despite the short length of this verse and the apparent simplicity of it, this verse is really very important and has much more meaning than it appears to have at a quick glance!

Most times we hear this verse used when people are teaching about putting others above ourselves and caring for others unselfishly.

In reality, though, if you read the verses that follow this one, you’ll see that Jesus was talking about something entirely different than that.

Jesus went on to share a parable that taught the disciples that when someone comes into the kingdom of heaven… becomes a follower of Christ and has their name written in the Lamb’s book of life, that person is just as saved and is looked upon by God just the same as someone who has been saved for many years.

He was also referring to those who get saved late in their lives, at an older age, when compared to someone who gets saved early in their life, at a young age.

There is no difference in God’s eyes. Once we are washed in the blood of Jesus, we are sons and daughters of the Most High God. Period.

We do not gain seniority in the kingdom of God. Someone who was saved 35 years ago does not have more favor with God than someone who was saved 35 minutes ago.

Obviously, someone who has followed God for 35 years should be more spiritually mature than a recent convert, but in God’s eyes the two are equally saved.

So know this in your heart and never let anyone tell you that God favors longtime Christians over “newborn” Christians. The last shall be first and the first shall be last!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-12

(Eph 2:1-2 NKJV)  And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, {2} in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience…

With Christ we are a new creation and we are alive! Today, let us celebrate the life that we have been given through God’s mercy and His Son, Jesus Christ!

We wonder at times why we get mistreated by others or how people can say and do the things they do at times. We have to understand that just as we were once without Christ, so are they without Christ. If someone is without Him, they are considered dead. Therefore what else should we expect from dead people? They don’t know how to live.

This world we live in is full of dead people…those without Christ. They have been born into evil just as we were at one time. We are here to show them God’s love and mercy with the hope that they too will give their life to Christ and come alive in Him and LIVE!!

Today, let us remember that we once were dead and someone showed us God’s love and the way to life. We must do the same for others!!

Let us not give up on the dead… the unsaved. We can pray, and show them how to receive life through Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-12

(John 13:14 NKJV)  “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”

Jesus was the son of God. He was God in the flesh, here on earth. He was and is above all men.

And yet, in spite of this, He washed the feet of the disciples. He humbled himself, poured water over their feet and washed them.

How many of us would do this same thing? How many of us would humble ourselves, kneel on the floor, or on the ground, and wash the feet of someone… maybe even someone we don’t know very well?

Humility is a hard thing for some of us. Being humble enough to wash someone’s feet is even harder. But there is something strongly symbolic about the washing of another person’s feet.

Most of us like to think of ourselves as being humble. We never want to think we’re proud. But if God prompted us to wash the feet of someone would we do it? Would we be able to get down on the floor and wash the feet of another person?

This is a great test for all of us. Consider it and ask God to show you your heart.
