Bible Verse of The Day – 5-31-12

(Eph 6:12 NKJV)  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood.

This is a tough thing to grasp sometimes, especially when people are openly coming against us and attacking us. It’s often hard to separate the person from the spirit behind the attack.

People do have a free will and many times they do like to be miserable and vindictive. But we need to know and understand that despite the fact that they might initiate the things that they do to hurt others, there are very often demonic spirits that rise up to escalate what they do and turn it into ferocious attacks on us.

It’s up to us to remember this and to know how to stand against these attacks, rebuking the evil spirits in the name of Jesus. When we’re in the midst of being attacked, it’s easy to focus our anger at the person that we see. But we need to go beyond that and aim our counter-attack at the spirit behind the offense.

We know this isn’t flashy or exciting teaching, but once we understand this fully and get it ingrained into us, it will make it much easier to deal with vindictive people and help us to forgive them more easily.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-30-12

John 8:36 NKJV)  “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

The Israelites had been set free from slavery. Moses brought them out of Egypt to take them on a journey to go to a new land; the land which God had promised them.

It happened by way of miracles that God performed through Moses to get them out from under the hand of Pharaoh. God performed miracles time after time to get Pharaoh to let His people go!

When the people of Israel were released, they were happy and excited at first. But, as time went on. they found things to complain and murmur about. Even the miracles that God did for them weren’t not good enough anymore. In their discontent, they actually wanted to go back to Egypt, the land that God set them free from!

Are we feeling the same way today? Has God set us free from our Egypt? It could have been our friends or family that hurt us or took advantage of us, jobs that caused us stress, debt, addictions, our lack of knowledge in certain areas, etc. Are we longing to go back because maybe the new things aren’t as easy and the grass isn’t as GREEN as we thought it would be?

When Jesus sets us free He promises that WE are free indeed! We can’t let our flesh cause us to go back, no matter how hard it may fight us. We need to stay strong, letting God lead us to the promised land which He has for us.

You will see it is all worth it!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-29-12

(Mat 26:39 NKJV)  He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

Jesus prayed this prayer while in a place called Gethsemane.

As He was about to face the brutal beatings and then, ultimately, death on the cross for the sins of all humans, Jesus was under tremendous stress. He literally told the Father that if there was any other way for the sins of man to be taken away, please let it be so.

But He went on to say “Not my will, but yours”.

Each and every one of us has our own Gethsemane. We may not literally be in a garden, or facing death for the sins of the world. But we will all have, or have already had a turning point in our lives where we will surrender to God’s will for our lives, or we will turn and walk away.

Has God asked you to surrender yourself to Him? He asks all of us to surrender to Him at some point. It’s what being a follower of Christ is really all about. God wants 100% of us, not just a small piece.

If you’ve surrendered your life to God already, you know what a blessing it can be. No, it’s not always easy, but knowing that you’re sold out to God and walking the path He has set before you is an awesome experience that is life-changing.

If you’ve not yet had your own Gethsemane experience, it will come. God asks every single one of us to surrender to Him at some point.

Make sure you’re prepared and that you follow in the steps of Jesus and say to God, “not my will but yours”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-28-12

(John 15:19 NKJV)  “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

This verse should answer a lot of our questions for us. For example; Why do we feel left out? Why do we get talked about? Why do people make up stories about us? Why do family members fight us? Why do we feel lonely at times? The answer is that we are in this world but we are not of this world.

Many times, you go somewhere and find that if you don’t fit in or agree with what the majority is doing or saying, all of a sudden no one wants to be around you. You are looked as the outcast. You are not part of their conversation any longer because you don’t agree with what is being said or done. You get shut down quickly.

Try not to let this bother you. Just remember that Matthew 5:10 says:  Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Just stick to doing and agreeing with what is right, no matter what we come against and what comes against us.  Stand your ground, for you shall be Blessed!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-26-12

(Prov 22:6 NKJV)  Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

This is a promise straight from God’s word, to us.

Any of us who are parents know and understand the struggles of raising children in this harsh world. There are so many things that pull on them, trying to tear them away from us and from God’s protection.

But God promises us that if we raise them up correctly, teaching them to love Him and honor Him, they will ultimately not depart from His leading.

This doesn’t mean that they might not test the waters of “lands away from home”. But it does mean that if we have trained them up properly and loved them with the love of a parent and the love of God, they will live for Him and honor Him.

If you have children or have raised children who follow God’s ways and live their lives honoring Him, give glory and honor to God for his faithfulness.

If you’re struggling right now with a child or children who have strayed from God, keep trusting Him and believing His word. His word does not return void. He does not break a promise.

Keep loving them and praying for them. Showing them love can be hard when they’re belligerent, rebellious or hateful, but God’s word says that love always wins.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-25-12

(James 1:1 NKJV)  James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.

This is what the book of James starts off with. I read this and thought, wow…”a bondservant of God”? And then I thought… “hmm, what is a bondservant?”

This is what the Webster dictionary gives for a definition for bondservant: one bound to service without wages; also : slave.

James was a slave to Christ!! This caused me to stop and ponder on my walk with Christ and where I’m at. How much of me do I give to God? How much of my time do I give to Him? Am I be willing to be a bondservant for Christ?

It makes you realize how serious James was about His walk with the Lord. It makes you see how strong his love was for the Lord. A slave does everything their master tells them to do.

Where are we at in our walk with Christ? Are we willing to be a bond servant for Him today?

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-24-12

(Prov 16:24 NKJV)  Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

Our words can change a situation if we let God lead us in this. He has the discipline we need to tame our tongue and boy does it need taming at times.

There are times when I can be cool, calm, and collected, but some days I’d like to get my mouth out there and say how I feel. Of course, that is not the correct way to behave. We all know this.  But, those days sure do like to sneak in there.

The Holy Spirit will help guide us to say the right things at the right time. Praying and asking God for discipline over our words is the first step. Don’t get discouraged if it takes a bit to get that old tongue to say pleasant words in some situations.

Just keeping working at it and allow God to help. He is patient with us all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-23-12

(Philemon 1:4 NKJV)  I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers…

We want to take a few minutes to encourage everyone who might read this.

We get a lot of emails, and even letters by regular mail, thanking us for what we do. So many of you have written to tell us how God’s word has encouraged you just when you needed it most.

Well, let us tell each and every one of you that there have been just as many times when you have encouraged us. We can’t even count the times that we have been going through a tough time or we were waiting to hear from God and then one of you would send us an email or a letter, encouraging us or sharing a testimony with us.

Your words of encouragement, emails, letters and words of love have lifted us up, put smiles on our faces and tears of joy in our eyes. We are truly blessed to have a group of people like yourselves and we thank God for all of you.

As we have told many of you in personal emails, we take what we do very seriously and we thank God for the opportunity to serve each and every one of you.

Keep your faith strong and be sure to kick the devil at least once each day. He deserves it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-22-12

(Luke 6:38 NKJV)  “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

In spite of everything God has done for us and given to us, He still gives even more by having men bless us when we give.

He has promised us that as we give, the measure that we use in our giving will be used in return to bless us. We can never “out-give” God!! What an awesome FATHER we have; we are truly blessed.

Today, let us ask God who we can give to and what it is we can give. I believe with all my heart that as we follow HIM in our giving, this scripture is going to come to life in our situations. It won’t just be words on a page anymore, but it will be put into action and breakthroughs will begin!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-12

(Mark 10:27 NKJV)  But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

As human beings who live in a natural, tangible world, we sometimes have a hard time seeing past what’s standing in front of us.

We have ideas, dreams, goals or hopes. But we don’t see how they’ll ever become reality.

We have obstacles that stand between us and those dreams, goals and hopes. We have things that come against us. This makes it hard for us to see how any of these dreams, goals or hopes can become a reality in our lives.

Most times, this is because we only look at things through our natural eyes and we see everything in the natural realm. But we need to remember that God is not flesh and bone. He doesn’t operate based on natural principles or within natural boundaries.

God operates based on spiritual principles and heavenly realities. He’s not bound by earthly so-called realities.

Jesus said that with men things are impossible, but with God those things are possible.

(Mark 9:23 NKJV)  Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

So will we believe Him? Will we believe His word?

We have a choice. We can believe God and His word, and see a change in our circumstances. Or we can believe only what we see in front of us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-19-12

(Prov 12:13 NKJV)  The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, But the righteous will come through trouble.

Have you ever looked around you and thought “why does it seem like the bad guy always wins?”

Sometimes it seems like those that are the vilest in their ways are the ones who get ahead and prosper. But don’t be fooled. Despite how things look, everyone reaps what they sow, whether it’s here in this life or afterward.

It does seem sometimes like wickedness is prevailing in this world. But we, the righteous in Christ, will prevail.

Take heart in knowing that we are on God’s side and under His wing. We are highly favored and we will have victory in our lives.

Turn your eyes from the ways of the wicked and focus them on God. He is our source and our strength.
