Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-12

(1 Cor 15:57 NKJV)  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Be encouraged today. Know that no matter what you’re going through, there will be victory!

We don’t always know how or when the victory will come, but it will come.

We don’t always know what that victory will look like, but God will give us victory.

If you’re going through a trial or a struggle today, we call forth the victory in the name of Jesus!

Lift up your head and look to the One who gives life. He is our sustainer, our provider and our redeemer. There is nothing too big for Him to handle.

No matter what’s standing in front of you right now and no matter how difficult your circumstances are right now, stand knowing that God has the final word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-17-12

(1 Pet 2:15 NKJV)  For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men…

If we put God first in our daily walk we may find days when will have to sacrifice the things we want to do in order to do the things He wants us to do.

At first it may be really challenging, but as we continue it will get better and after a while we won’t even think much about it; it will come naturally.

Knowing how to do good comes from reading God’s Word and being taught right from wrong. Then, we take the steps and apply them to our everyday situations.

Sometimes we may not know the right thing to do at the moment some situations occur. Always wait on God, He will never steer us wrong.

God is a Good God!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-16-12

(Rom 12:19 NKJV)  Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

During the last several months, God has been trying to teach me about this verse. Notice I said “trying” to teach me?

We have walked through some tests and trials during the last several months, especially when it comes to personal attacks coming from people that we know personally. I know that the enemy is using these people, but I have to admit that there have been moments when I have had a little bit of a hard time keeping myself from wanting to take matters into my own hands and getting in their faces.

As a husband and a father, I have a fiercely-protective side of me that I am learning to restrain in certain situations. It’s not been an easy thing for me, but God is teaching me a lot through all of this.

I have also learned that there are times when people just simply don’t want to work out disagreements, no matter how badly you want to. So most times it really is better to just put some things aside and move on, letting God handle it for you.

Despite the fact that it often looks like the bad guys always win, God keeps reminding me that the “victories” that the bad guys seem to have are only temporary and are taking place in a temporal world, whereas He gives us victory for eternity.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-12

(Rom 8:1 NKJV)  There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

There is no condemnation for those in Christ. Period.

Way too many believers live under condemnation of some sort. Some of it comes from guilt about things from the past. Some of it comes from judgment from other people in the body of Christ. And sometimes it even comes from our spiritual leaders.

None of us should ever feel condemned. Jesus took all of our condemnation on the cross and put it to death there, once and for all.

God will convict us when we’re out of line, but He will NEVER condemn us.

If you’re feeling weighed down with guilt or condemnation today, take a good look at why this is happening. Do you have unconfessed and unforgiven sin in your life that’s making you feel guilty? Are you being judged unjustly by your peers or your leaders?

If this condemnation is coming from others, it might be time to find some new people to spend time with.

Jesus hung guilt and condemnation on the cross and defeated it permanently, so there is no need for us to still be carrying it around. Lay it to rest right now, in the name of Jesus!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-12

(Psa 51:10 NKJV) Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Our prayer today is that this verse speaks to us in such a way that in everything we do, we do it for God. Whether it’s at work or at home, wherever we go, may this verse be so fresh on our minds that we would think twice before we say or do things that would be against what God has taught us.

If we want to grow and have a deeper relationship with Christ, a beautiful marriage a good relationship with our children etc., the first step in making anything better is to get our own hearts right with God.

This means that we need to take a good look at ourselves and the things that we’re doing and let God help us to make the necessary changes that need to be made in us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-12

(Phil 2:4-8 NKJV)  Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. {5} Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, {6} who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, {7} but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. {8} And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Selfish, self-centered, self-seeking, self-fulfilling; these words conjure up a lot in our minds when we think about them, don’t they?

And let’s be honest with ourselves; when we think of these words, we typically think of others that we know, don’t we?

The fragile nature of life has really been hitting home with us lately. God has impressed on us how important it is for us to appreciate the life that we’ve been blessed with. He wants us to make the most of it, each and every single day.

Being self-centered is easy for most of us. It’s almost second nature if we live by the flesh. If we live by God’s spirit, though, being selfish will become more and more difficult to do.

God wants us to consider others and see them as being important. We’re put here to love God and be a light to this dying world.

Take a few minutes today to ask God if your life is impacting anyone else around you in a positive way. Our lives should be a light to them without us having to preach to them or quote scriptures to them. It’s not about how many Bible verses we quote on a daily basis, but what we say and do in everyday settings and situations that impacts them the most!

It’s up to us to love them and impact their lives with our own lives. God has equipped us for this!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-12-12

(Gen 2:24 NKJV)  Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

God has blessed us as humans, with a beautiful thing called marriage.

The bond shared between a husband and wife is intended to be sacred. It is ordained of God and meant to last a lifetime.

Unfortunately, we as humans have figured out ways to make a mess of it and drag marriages through the mud. We’ve seen this on the part of men and women.

Recently I have been asking God a lot of questions about why marriages fail and why people end up cheating on their spouses. He’s been giving me a lot of revelation as to why this goes on and it’s been eye-opening for me.

Just about every failed marriage is due to selfishness on the part of one or both of the people involved. At some point, we become selfish and start forgetting who we have been blessed with as a spouse, and we begin to look elsewhere for attention and satisfaction.

There is obviously much deeper stuff related to this, but this is the core of what happens.

Fortunately, God has provided us with every possible means of avoiding this trap. He can teach us how to make our marriages last a lifetime, even in these days of adultery, fornication and billions of failed marriages. We don’t have to fit the mold that this world has tried to force us into!!

Today, I am so happy to share my life with Pastor Ellie, the woman that God has blessed me with. We are celebrating 29 years of marriage today!

God has done this and He has shown us that a marriage doesn’t have to be doomed to destruction. It can be happy and strong, even in the face of adversity and hard times.

We give God all the glory for our relationship. He is the one that has taught us to make it work and make it happy!

We pray for each and every one of you who reads this, that you will be blessed with a strong, happy marriage. And for those of you who have been through a divorce, or are going through a divorce, that God will strengthen you and give you what you need to live victoriously, in spite of your circumstances.

If you’re still unmarried and seeking a spouse, wait on God to provide the one He has for you! Waiting isn’t easy, but when God provides for us, it’s worth the wait!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-10-12

(Gen 16:2 NKJV)  So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.

I suppose at the time that Sarai told Abraham this, she thought it was a good idea… a good way to either help God out or to make up for what she saw was God’s lack of action.

Have we ever done something like this? Have we ever gotten impatient with God and His timing and done something on our own because we just thought we needed to take care of it ourselves?

I can guarantee you that any time we’ve fallen into this trap and done things ourselves, instead of waiting on God when He has told us to wait, we’ve wound up in more trouble than we were in to start with.

Sometimes it can be hard to discern the voice of God and understand His timing completely, but as we draw closer to Him and begin to understand Him better, we’re less likely to make the same kind of mistake that Sarai made. And believe it or not, the entire civilization of the world is still paying for Sarai’s mistake, even today.

Let’s wait on God’s timing and learn how to make good decisions!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-12

(1 John 3:23 NKJV) And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

The love of God is what saves us. He loved us so much He sent His Son to die for us, that through Jesus Christ’s blood we are free and we can be forgiven of our sins and get closer to God and have a relationship with Him.

Sin is what tries to come between us and God from day one.

If we want change in our lives and in our situation we have to take a good look at what it is that causes us to keep falling back into the same old sinful things.

Let us get rid of the things that are coming between us and God today. The closer we come to God the easier it will be to love others and obey His Word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-8-12

(1 Ki 19:11-13 NKJV)  Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; {12} and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. {13} So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

So many times we think of hearing from God and we envision a booming voice or some kind of miraculous display of wonder and power.

There probably isn’t one of us reading this that hasn’t longed to see God move in some kind of very powerful way, inspiring awe in all those who witness it.

But how many of us have missed God because we were waiting to see that massive display of awe-inspiring power, while He was speaking to us in a still, small voice?

Hearing that still, small voice might seem like a tough thing to get used to at first. It can take a bit of getting used to in this noisy world we live in. So many things vie for our time and attention.

But learning how to hear God is worth every bit of the effort associated with it. And once we “get it”, we’ll wonder how we went so long without hearing Him.

Let’s stop looking and longing so much for those big displays of power and learn to listen for His still, small voice. It’s truly awe-inspiring.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 3-7-12

(Psa 33:3 NKJV)  Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

What’s really cool about God is that he doesn’t put us in a box when it comes to giving Him praise!

We don’t have to be able to play a musical instrument like a pro in order to praise Him. We don’t even have to be able to play a musical instrument at all, in fact.

All we need to do is sing. That’s right, just sing and shout to Him!

How stuck in our ways we have become when we think that we need a modern worship band or a huge number of instruments and singers in order to praise Him. He simply wants to hear us sing and shout His name and our thanks to Him.

Instruments are good. Bands are good. But when we get to the point where we think we need them in order to worship God, we’re missing Him.

Sing a new song to Him today and shout your praises to Him. He loves every minute of it!
