(Mark 2:5 NKJV) When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
A paralyzed man had been brought to Jesus so he could be healed. Instead of healing him right away, Jesus simply told him that his sins were forgiven.
Although Jesus went on to also heal the man, the fact that He forgave the man’s sins first is very significant.
God can bless us with all kinds of things… friends, a nice home, finances and much more.
But when all is said and done, the forgiveness of our sins is much more important than all of those other blessings.
Jesus died for our sins, first and foremost. The other things are simply “fringe benefits” that are part of what I like to call “The Salvation Package”.
We can have all of the extras and greatly enjoy them, but without the forgiveness of sins the rest is all meaningless.
Thank God today for your salvation and the fact that all we have to do is ask Him and He will forgive our sins.
