(Mark 10:46-50 NKJV) Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. {47} And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” {48} Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” {49} So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” {50} And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
This group of verses is just one of many examples where someone was trying to get to Jesus, but they were being kept away by the crowds and by the people around Jesus.
No matter what the obstacles were that got in their way, they never gave up. They pushed through until they were able to access the Messiah and have their needs met.
How is it with us? Do we know that we need to come to Jesus, but we’re too timid to push through to reach Him? Or maybe we’re not willing to put forth whatever effort it requires to reach Him?
If we let things get in our way, we’ll never get what we need. We’ll never change. Our circumstances will never change. We’ll stay in the same old leaky boat, hoping we don’t sink.
I want to encourage you to push through today. You need something from Jesus. He wants to help you… He’s willing, but you’re not doing everything that needs to be done.
Don’t give up and don’t pull back. Keep reaching and exercising your faith. All you need is one touch from Jesus to heal you and deliver you.
